Goodnight Moon

CAAAAAAN'T SLEEEEEEEP!!!
Leia woke me up. Little bugger. She started to wake up and be annoying, so I tried to ignore it, hoping she'd get the picture, but of course she didn't. Then she started making those awful puke sounds and had the pukes on the floor. Better the floor than the bed, but still nasty. Well, this puppy mama is now up for good. Oh the joys of motherhood. So now, I'm watching some silly 80's movie about a rich girl who wrecked her daddy's car then her fairy god mother turns her into a maid. Strange. The 80s are very strange.

So what do you do at 3:00 in the morning? You spend 20 minutes looking up cute animals sleeping. Duh.

I originally Google-imaged "Can't sleep" and there were way too many pictures and t-shirts that said, "Can't sleep. Clowns might eat me." How disturbing! Clowns are just awful and why would someone make up a saying like that? Now I really won't be getting back to sleep tonight!

I'm Funny:
Here's a short story for you. Rarely do I do anything that makes me laugh. Okay, lies. I laugh at myself all the time. Sometimes I'm my own audience. Well earlier tonight, Jamie was playing Halo, listening to his music on his itunes, but had the music come through the surround sound speakers in the living room. Well, I went into the office and got on his itunes and changed the music to Hakuna Matata!! Bahahaha! I literally laughed out loud, thinking I was HI-larious! Which I was, of course. Jamie actually thought it was funny too, but oh man. I thought I was REALLY hysterical! Isn't my life just fascinating? Yes, it is.

Kindermusik:
I think I'm getting 2 new schools next week! Woo hoo! That'll put me up to 7 schools! Awesome! Funny story...on Friday, one of the 3 year olds I was teaching told me his name was "Batman Luke" and oh boy was he serious! He refused to be silly or smile or dance like a dork with me because "Batman Luke doesn't do that kiddy stuff." And if I called him "Luke", I got corrected quickly. So, Batman Luke it is! Kids are silly...

Double Date:
Friday night, Jamie and I had a double date with Eric and Isabel at Olive Garden. Oh my fatness is that place delicious! I rarely eat Italian food or any sort of pasta, but oh goodness. That place was so yummy! We were all starving too, so it was extra delicious! The only down side of the evening was that "Captain Awkward" was our waiter. He's been my waiter there before and was just a character to put it nicely. He called me and my friend high school girls and I couldn't really understand a word that boy said. God love him. Someone has to.

The Perfect Saturday:
My day started off marvelously! First of all, I got a full 12 hours of sleep. Hmmm...maybe that's why I'm wide awake now....? Anyhoo, then I made homemade whole wheat waffles with strawberries. Then Jamie and I slept for another 2 hours. Worth. Less. We are WORTHLESS! But it was fantastic! Then I went on a walk. Then we had lunch. Then we worked out at the gym. Then we played KICKBALL!!! Woo hoo! Our Sunday School class played the other young marrieds class and it was a hoot! I'm fairly athletic, as in, I like to stay in shape, but I'm no athlete. I was nervous to play kickball to say the very least. But you know what? I kicked 3 times and I made it to 2nd base on one of those kicks! Jamie even made it to home base and scored our team a point! He's got a sliding wound to prove it! So proud of my man. When I google-imaged "Kickball", this is the picture that popped up. Not sure why, but I just had to use it:
Isn't this the guy that says, "What you talkin' 'bout, Willis?" Love this kid. And I suppose he loves kickball too.

9/11:
On Instant Netflix, they added the movie, World Trade Center. Jamie and I watched it tonight, and I cried and cried and cried. Having not been there when it happened makes it hard to believe that it did happen. I have been to New York twice since 9/11, and I just can't imagine that amazing city in such turmoil that day and years after. I can't imagine actually being there when those planes hit, with thousands of people running away. I can't imagine what people went through who had friends and family members in those buildings. I can't imagine what it's like not being able to bury your loved one, because the body got destroyed in the rubble. Can't imagine waiting by the phone, praying my policeman husband calls me to tell me he's alive. Don't want to imagine any of that. Anyway, I don't want to tell you the whole story of this movie, but I highly recommend it. It's not a depressing movie that focuses on the "bad" of this awful date in our history, but it has a different approach. It focuses on the good that came of it, and how our country came together.

Here is a quote made by Sargent John McLoughlin: "9/11 showed us what human beings are capable of. The evil, yeah, sure. But it also brought out the goodness we forgot could exist. People taking care of each other for no other reason than it was the right thing to do. It's important for us to talk about that good, to remember. 'Cause I saw all of it that day."

I'm still not quite sure why September 11 had to happen, but it did and we can't do anything to change it. You know when those planes hit the towers and the Pentagon, Satan was cheering, just waiting for us to curse the name of God and doubt His power and sovereignty and turn away from Him. Did some people do that? I'm sure. However. I think the United States as a whole, along with other countries, joined together and praised His name. They clung to Him, because He was all they could cling to at such a terrifying time. We all prayed for understanding and guidance in that time of fear. Prayer was all many people had. Even in the darkest of days, we still found ourselves calling out to God, praising Him! In the movie, when Sargent McLoughlin is stuck under rubble, he begins screaming the Lord's Prayer. So powerful. After 9/11, how many signs did you read saying, "God Bless America"? That was on every billboard. How many people did you hear of that came to follow Christ after that dreadful day? Thousands. How many churches were filled that week? Countless. How many mission trips were made to NYC to help with the aftermath? Hundreds, I'm sure. Satan, you didn't win this one. God and His followers were and still are victorious! There is NOTHING you can do to pull us down or stop us. When God is on our side, we are unstoppable. We're on His winning team. In the movie, when he said that quote about remembering the good...let's keep doing that. There will always be evil in this world. But let's overpower that with remembering the good in the world. Satan wants us to focus on the evil and the bad and the sad all around us. Don't give him the satisfaction. Fight those thoughts with good thoughts. Remember the good that is still all around us. Remember those good friends. Remember those faithful friends and family members. Remember our Awesome Father in Heaven who is on our side and is always victorious. Always remember the good.
We will NEVER forget....

Alrighty. I've moved on from that awful 80s movie to now watching The Princess and the Frog. You can read my thoughts on that movie here. Hopefully I get sleepy soon since I've got to be at church in approximately 5 hours. I hope y'all have a blessed Sunday and embrace a day of rest to the fullest! Love love love!
