Good morning, friends and family!!!
Last night was a blast! We went to El Mezcal for dinner (I ordered poorly) and then we went to Jerry's Snow Cones with Phillip and Claire. So fun! Jamie, Claire and I all ordered Dreamsicle Supreme! It's dreamsicle snow cone layered with vanilla frozen yogurt. Yummy!! Phillip unfortunately ordered a snow cream flavored snow cone. It was the color of urine and according to Phillip, the color made it hard to enjoy. All that to say...snow cream snow cone is maybe not a pleasing choice if color bothers you... Mine was delicious :) Jamie and Phillip played Halo for a little bit and then they left around 9:00 ish. Guess who was in bed and asleep by 10:00? ME! Not sure when Jamie finally came to bed, but I was sooo tired! I woke up around 7:15, and that was a glorious 9 hours and 15 minutes of sleep!
Mucus. Eww.:
I woke up this morning with a super sore throat :( I know I'm not sick at all, but I've just got that nasty snot mucus in my throat. Wait. Is that too much information? Sorry 'bout that. Welcome to my blog! But anyhoo, I'm sitting here on the couch, watching Grey's Anatomy with Leia, drinking orange spice hot tea with honey. The perfect remedy to a sore throat! I've never seen Grey's Anatomy, so I'm trying to watch it from the beginning. It's pretty good. Not spectacular, but it's good. So anyway, I'm just hoping I quit spitting up these nasty guys before my day really starts:

Sick Puppy?:
I've been noticing that Leia hasn't been acting like herself recently. She stays in bed in the morning, not greeting me and Jamie. That's highly unusual. She stays in her little doggie bed all day, whimpering. She doesn't get excited when I offer to take her on a walk. Also highly unusual. She doesn't follow me around the house like she incessantly does day to day. I'm just a little concerned. You puppy people out there, how do you find out if your goggie is sick? Help!

Syrup Saturday:
As you know, it's Syrup Saturday, folks! Woo hoo! We haven't had Syrup Saturday in weeks! What's wrong with us?! Well, we've been busy and I've been outa town. So whenever Jamie wakes up, I'll make us some whole wheat chocolate chip pancakes! Yummylicious! I really think you all should join me in an indulgent breakfast every once in a while. Just go to ihop or make yourself something delicious for breakfast! Forget calories. Forget fat. Forget sugar. Eat. Enjoy. Then just go on a walk. That's what I do! I eat a bunch of pancakes, and then I go on a killer work out! It basically evens out, right?! Do it!

Church:
Last week in Sunday School, we talked about what church means to us and how the people in a church have so much influence over our choice of church. We also talked about how certain people or situations have turned us away from the church. Well, I thought of one in my life that really affected me. (Or is it Effected? I never remember the different between "effect" and "affect". Don't care...). Anyway! My junior year of high school, I was babysitting my youth minister's kids. I should have known that was fishy, because I knew he never liked me, so why in the world would he ask me to watch his kids?! I shoulda known! Anyway, he came home from work and immediately began asking me why I don't go to youth group? In my mind, I was thinking, "I dislike you. I dislike how every single week, we talk about sex and alcohol. I dislike how you run the youth group. I dislike how you treat me. And I'm involved in other areas of the church!!!" But no, I told him that I go to my dad's Sunday School class, because he's a REAL bible teacher! I'm actually LEARNING something! Crazy, huh? I also told him that I'm really involved in FCA and Young Life and Kanakuk. That's why I don't go to youth group stuff. Plus, I just flat out don't like it. Long story short, he basically told me that he is questioning my faith and salvation because I'm not involved in the youth group. He told me that he spoke with my peers and they were all worried about my walk with Christ. Awesome. That made me feel really. Really. Wretched. Do you think I EVER darkened the doors of the youth group ever again? Hecks naw!!!
All that to say!!!....What is your role in the church? Are you helping people get more involved or are you ignoring them? Are you a welcoming face or do you pretend new people aren't there? Are you judging what people wear to church (jeans, shorts, t-shirts, etc.), or are you just glad to see them there? Do you represent the body of Christ? Or do you represent a worldly human? Think about it. Jamie and I were obviously brand new to Bellevue, and now we feel as though we've been friends with these people for years! I've met some of the nicest people in the world in our Sunday School class and I've never felt more welcome in my life! Bellevue friends, if you're reading this, THANK YOU! You are incredible! Be that person in the church, y'all! Be welcoming. Be open. Be the body of Christ that God wants you to be! It makes a difference!
I love you all and pray that you have a restful and excellent Saturday!!!
