A Few Randoms and a Challenge

So this will be a post of random thoughts and stories with a little challenge at the end. Enjoy :)
1. I met a Weenie dog named Cornbread last night. He's 10 years old, with gray hair, about 5 inches shorter than Leia and 5 inches wider than Leia. He's a tank! But a cute tank...named CORNBREAD! Ah I love it. His owner is this precious old man, and I'm glad Leia and I had the privilege of meeting him. And I'm glad I met the old man. We'll meet again.
2. Food Review: I was really upset the other week when I bought 2...yes 2...new cereals and was highly displeased. I am a coupon dork who cuts coupons and uses them as much as I can. I was thrilled to find a coupon for 2 cereals that I've been wanting to try. Kellogg's Fiber Plus Cereals: Berry Yogurt Crunch and Cinnamon Oat Crunch. So I bought these and yucky, eww. I'm not a fan. I love fiber cereals and usually put up with the "fiber" taste that most of the cereals have. Not these 2. Of course, I must finish the boxes, because I don't believe in wasting food, but I do just want to warn all of you out there to not even try this cereal, because it's not worth it. They're really weird flavors with odd texture. I don't think there has been a cereal that I don't like. Well. Now there is. PS--I just saw a commercial for these nasty cereals...don't believe it! They're not tasty!

Uck.

Boo.
3. Movie Review: So, I have been super duper eager to see "The Princess and the Frog" and I finally did this weekend, thanks to Netflix. That is the new Disney movie that was set in New Orleans, and I had not seen it yet, much to my dismay. I LOVE everything Disney :) Okay, here's the deal. It was a cute movie, with beautiful graphics, fun and upbeat music, and a great story. However, if I had children, I would not let them see it due to the huge talk and involvement of voodoo. I've never been to New Orleans, but apparently, voodoo is huge there and very very prevalent. I don't believe in it, obviously, because I am a follower of Jesus Christ, but I wouldn't want my children seeing that in this movie and finding any charm in it, thinking that voodoo will turn you into a frog and then help you find your prince and so on and so forth. Yes, it's just a movie and a cartoon. BUT...anything dealing with witchcraft or voodoo of any sort is not good for youthful eyes. On a positive note, I thought it was a very cute movie with a happy ending, but I also know that it's just a movie. If you're a mama reading this, I'd be careful letting your babies see this movie. Just take care of their eyes and what they take in. It's tough for them to see the difference in reality and fiction.

4. The other night, my friend Jenny and I went to Emily's house to watch The Bachelorette (Frank is such a tool, by the way), and Emily had a gas leak issue in her house which caused us to wait outside while MLGW was figuring out what was wrong with it. Anyway, it was hotter than blue blazes outside and we were sweatin' bullets! Out of the blue, I said in complete desperation, "Jesus, for the love, please give us a big breeze!" Within seconds, a HUGE breeze hit us and it felt glorious! I have chill bumps on my arms and tears welling in my eyes now just thinking how cool that was. The 3 of us looked at each other with eyes wide and smiles on our faces, just thinking...."Whoa. That was awesome. That was God!" How cool was that! He heard my cry, and He answered! It was just very very amazing to see God work IMMEDIATELY! God even works in simple ways like giving us a breeze on a hot day. Just ask :)

5. I got to drive the golf cart yesterday while Jamie hit 9 holes of golf. It was fun and I'm glad he invited me and I'm glad we got to spend time together doing something he loves. If you are married, go do something fun with your spouse this week. Spend time together. I love my hubs and the time we get to hang out with each other, because he's just a blast to be around. He's an incredible man of God, and I'm grateful he's mine!

7. Challenge of the Day: Manners! So, I've been thinking recently about my attitude. Not to toot my own horn, but I feel as though I am a fairly happy and polite person, but I can always be happier and more polite, and smile even more. My challenge to you this week is to bump up your smiling and use manners. I went to lunch about a month ago with our real estate agent, Molly. She is the most outgoing, pleasant, happy, joyful, polite, energetic lady I've ever met! She may be my parents' age, but I consider her a dear friend and I'm blessed to know her. Anyway, we went to Danvers for lunch, and when she was ordering, the cashier said, "Ma'am, you are so happy. You smile so big and you make me smile!." Oh my gosh. I was like wow! This really just happened. People really notice a smile these days! My challenge to you is to really try your best to smile more in public. Use more manners. Look people in the eye. Even if you are not having the best day, fake it and put a smile on your face and be polite to those around you. You have no idea who you might run into throughout the day who might just need to see a smiling face. The other day, I was at Old Navy and my cashier was absolutely lovely, and just her sweet attitude and pretty smile made me happy the rest of the day. It was a change to be treated nicely, and I was so appreciative of her joy. My parents used to make my sister and I rehearse using manners when we were little. "Yes ma'am, no ma'am, yes sir, no sir, please, thank you, no thank you," etc... I still use manners to this day and people actually notice! Use kind manners today. It goes a long long way and it will make you stand out! So that's all.
*Be polite.
*Smile.
*Use manners.
*Show your joy.
*Stand out.

I love you guys! Have a STELLAR day and don't forget to smile!
