Honey-Do Monday

First thing's first.

There is a tickle monster in my house. A tickle monster that causes bodily harm. Hide ya kids! Hide ya wife! Actually, just hide my own claws because I scratched myself last night when Jamie was tickling me. I deserved it. I got him really good the other night and it was payback. Well. Payback is a you-know-what and I scratched myself on the chin. Yowzers!
Call Me Mrs. Honey-Do

Since I am no longer teaching (Friday was my last day) my new full time job is to make sure our house looks impeccable at all times as we try to get this baby sold!

Today was my first day "off" and I started by taking Lulu on a walk. I figured a walk at 8:00 would be fairly cool/not too blazing hot yet.

Silly me. We were both dying! Just look at her:
She was panting so hard and finally collapsed on the rug in the kitchen. I brought her water bowl over to her and she hardly lifted her head up to get a drink. What a little prissy-pants!

After our walk, I did some cardio at the gym. 30 minutes of walking and running intervals on the treadmill and then 30 minutes on the elliptical. Both were really good workouts and I was ready to start my honey-dos!

First. A 4th trip to Lowe's. Four trips to Lowe's in 48 hours...not my cup of tea. I look like such a fool there. I'm obviously lost and have no idea what I'm doing there. At least I didn't run into Mr. Flirty-Face! I had to buy spray paint and flowers. Done and done.

When I got home, I slathered on some spray SPF 50, got my iHome, started my Broadway playlist again and got to work.

Step 1: Weed garden at the mail box. FML.
As I've mentioned before. I really detest pulling weeds. Gosh, it's just never-ending and so monotonous! I mean look at how many weeds there are in that thing! I timed myself and became quite the speed demon to finish that baby as quickly as I could. It took approximately 28 minutes to pull all of those weeds. And I killed around 74 ish spiders. I could care less that I'm in their environment. Correction: they're in MY environment and have no business crawling around in my garden. Shame on you. Spiders no more! I killed every one I saw :)

After weed pulling, putting down new soil, flowers and mulch, here are the results:
I think it looks rather nice, don't you think? Thank you. I call this curb appeal! Come on, buyers!!!

As I was working in the yard, I was sweating like a stinkin' beast. I kid you not. I was dripping wet. I know I smelled. I had soil and weeds stuck all over my body. I was a hot mess. While I was running errands earlier, I bought a large Gatorade to quench my thirst later. Boy, am I glad I bought it!
I could have cared less that I drank 200 calories. I usually try not to drink my calories, but this was a serious necessity on this hot day. I'm pretty sure I lost 6 pounds in water weight just from sweating today, so bring it on, calorie-filled Gatorade! You were delish!

After I finished the mailbox flower bed, I pulled weeds, put down new soil and mulch in the front flower bed. Look how nice it looks now. Also, please notice the nicely trimmed bushes that I worked on all afternoon last week:
I don't mind fishing for compliments when I've worked this hard. I think I'm just desperate for our house to sell quickly so I'm doing everything I can to make our house look lovely!

These are my thoughts on gardening:
A picture says a thousand words. I can think of one: boo.

Another honey-do I accomplished today was spray painting our table and chairs that are in the backyard. Look how grungy they look.

Before:
After:
Much better, huh? Amazing what one can of spray paint can accomplish.

Once we move, I think I'm going to treat myself to a patio furniture set as my own house warming gift. We'll see. It might end up being a house warming gift, birthday and Christmas...and Valentine's...and anniversary gift...for the next 3 years...to myself. Well. I'll think about that when the time comes!

I got all of that work done in just under 3 hours. My goal: finish all outside work before lunch. Working was literally my lunch ticket. I was starving by the time I finished working, showering and getting dressed.

Here's what was on the menu for lunch today:
Whole wheat spaghetti, handful of spinach, 1/2 cup of spaghetti sauce, 1/2 an orange and an oatmeal raisin cookie. Yummy! I felt very replenished!

Just look at me. I'm thrilled to be finished with gardening junk!:
Jamie gets home in about an hour ish and I am going to finish up the kitchen and clean up our bedroom. Our realtor comes on Friday to take pictures of our house for our brochure, so it's got to look like perfection!

What did you all do today? How was work? Were you off today? Are you a stay at home person? Memphis friends who are free in the summer...let's play soon!

Alright. I'm out. Love you guys!
