Why, Hello There 2011

2011. Welcome. I have a question. Do we say, "two thousand eleven" or "twenty eleven"? I think "twenty eleven" is less tongue-twistery. Don't cha think? Anyhoo...back to New Years...

Last night ended up being a fun yet still very chill evening. I got a chuckle at a few Facebook friends who put on their statuses this week, "I just bought my new cocktail dress for New Years!" What?! What does that mean? Where do you wear a cocktail dress? Well, I've never been a big party girl, and I don't get invited to sassy/chic venues to party....so there goes all reasons to buy a cocktail dress. Oh well.

Jamie was actually the party planner for the evening! Surprise surprise! Jamie wanted some guys to come over and play xbox. Go figure. Then that ended up being a fairly last minute dinner and a night at our house, which I was totally okay with! Thank goodness I happened to have cleaned the casa all day! I was okay with anything as long as it didn't include me getting out in the rain...or dressing up.

At midnight (which was a big surprise that we made it that late), we popped open the red sparkling grape juice and the cheap wine glasses! Woo hoo!

The Entertainer for the evening:
BJ and Sarah:
Claire and Phillip:
Me and James:
It was a fun and relaxing evening. No cocktail dresses involved. Very little make-up. Dinner, munchies and a movie. I'd call that a pretty good New Years.

New Years Resolution:
So, I thought about it last night. I think new years resolutions are silly. I think they set you up for failure. I think they're mindless.
Buuuuut....at the same time. They can be really good if you intend them to work and be effective/affective (I never know which one is the right one). So, I've decided to start a food/exercise/prayer journal.
It looks like this:
I should keep calm, and I SHOULD have a cupcake every now and then :) But really, food, exercise and prayer are important to me. And all of that has been lagging. I love food a lot, but I put a lot of crap in my body. I exercise religiously, but I need to change up my work outs. I pray every now and then, but it needs to happen more than a few times a day.

Hear me now, folks. I am committed to a full year of journaling EVERYTHING that I eat! EVERY exercise that I do! And EVERYTHING that I want/need to pray about that day! That means that I am going to write down exactly how many M&M's I eat (not just writing down a "few"). I am going to journal about my exercises. And I am going to journal about my prayer life. I have got to be more intentional about my prayers. I have enough free time throughout my day to stop and pray for those I love and even for life in general.

So. There you have it. Abby just set a New Years Resolution. Hold me accountable, friends! Ask me about it! Encourage me if you see me lagging. Doing this will only benefit me, so why not give it a shot, right?

If you made a New Years Resolution, tell people! Have them hold you accountable! Share your plan. If you share it, then you know you're going to be watched, therefore, you'll probably follow through with it. Go for it, friends! Start this new year off with a bang! A positive bang!

I love you guys and hope you have a blessed first day of 2011!
