Adventures with Abby, Claire and Sarah

Yes, I realize today is not the 22nd or 23rd of January, but on Saturday, January 22nd, Sarah, Claire and I went on a mighty adventure around the great city of Memphis. And like my calendar page says, "I don't get it." Saturday was a day full of "I don't get its!" Here's how our day progressed...

Here's how it all began:
Claire and Sarah thought it'd be fun to go to lunch and get pedicures. Great idea, right? Right! So the original plan was to go to McAlister's and then go to this place by my house to get or tootsies painted. That was what was SUPPOSED to happen.

Here's what really happened:
Sarah and Claire show up at my house around 11:30 as planned, but I open the door and all I hear is, "Are you ready for an adventure?" What? Long story short, Claire hates her cell phone. So she got the brilliant idea from a Best Buy guy to go on Craigslist to find someone who will do a trade. Shady-McShaderson! So, what does Claire do? She finds some sketch guy who wants to meet us in this creepy building to do "the trade". I'll finish that story in a sec...

We almost died:
Lunch was great. After we left my house, we headed to McAlister's Deli. We all got yummy food and diet drinks, gobbled everything up, got refills, filled the car up with gas, and headed on our merry way to what we didn't know was about to be our demise. As we were getting on the interstate, this car starts to merge into our lane quite quickly. We all see it. We all scream like little girls. (None of us are screamers, by the way.) Claire lays on her horn and does her best not to get us killed. Honestly, there was NOTHING she could have done to help the situation but honk. Praise Jesus the other car heard the honk, because they moved back into their lane. No joke. This car was inches away from hitting us, and we were truly scared for about 4 seconds. During those 4 seconds, I went through every scenario that could happen. Thankfully, none of those scenarios were fulfilled. That wreck was avoided, but it could have been really bad. Thank you, Jesus for keeping us safe.

Where the heck are we?:
We drove around for too long looking for this Verizon cell phone trader guy who was renting some office space in this smelly building because his "shop" got robbed. We find the building. Lord have mercy on our souls. It smelled of hair, cigarette smoke, body odor, and other unknown skankiness. As we wandered this building, all 3 floors, we came across a sign. Take a look at it. Find one of the business names that makes you laugh. See if you can spot it...
Make-U-Ova Salon!! Really?!? Who are these people? Needless to say, that was not the place we needed, but it did provide a good laugh. We finally get a hold of the guy and he tells us which "Suite Number" to go to. And we get there. Top floor. No one around. There's a peep hole in the door. We know there are people in that room. The door is locked. 3 girls. All alone. This sounds like a Lifetime movie gone bad. We knock. And this guy opens the door, and praise the good Lord Jesus Almighty because Sarah knows him! Out of great relief, she falls into his arms and gives him a hug! She worked with him at a church, so that gave us some relief as well. They let us into this small room, which was their temporary office, and it just looked soooo stinkin' shady! No business names. Nothing nice in there. No business cards. No professional attire. It was sketchy. Thanks Claire! It appeared as some illegal, covert operation going on. Then. The worst possible thing could happen. Sarah's nice friend left and shut the door!!!! We were trapped. With these strangers. Scary, unprofessional strangers. Claire had her finger on her mace in her pocket. Sarah and I were just prepared to throw some bows, if need be. To make a longer story short, it was kind of legit. The guy called Verizon and gave them his business number thing and they "did the switch" legally (or so it seems). Claire got her precious little keyboard phone. Happy, Claire??!?!?! Just kidding. It was fun. And we got some huge laughs out of the adventure!

Much needed pedi:
As I've mentioned before, I LOVE getting my nails done and consider it a little piece of heaven. We went to this little place near our house and it was lovely. I went CRA-ZAY and got my toes painted a fun color! Check it:
I usually do red or a dark purple/almost black, French, or another "safe" color. This was a more fun choice :) I like it!

So. All this to say. We survived our adventure. And I'd do it again! Let's think of new adventures to go on! I think a vacation is in order in our future :)

Leia Pictures. Duh:
I buy those HUGE bags of raw hides for Leia Lu, because she loves them. In this last bag, there was a GIGANTORM bone that is like 4 bones in one. Leia LOVED it! Here she is trying to dominate this bone. (PS: We gave it to her on Saturday. It is now Tuesday. She has yet to finish it.) Look at the bone...and look at those beady eyes!!!
This one's my favorite picture. Look at that tongue:
I thought you needed a Leia fix :) She's the best goggie in the world!

All right. I'm off to my day. I gotta be a big girl now and go to my big girl job.

I hope your day is wonderful and lovely and fun!

Remember: Jesus loves you and so do I!

  1. Oh how I loved reminiscing on our crazy adventure! However...you left out the part about how we got blocked in our parking space because the bimbo blonde backed into the land cruiser driving macho man whose shirt was 2 sizes too small! Hahahahaha What a great day this was!
