I now have 20+ children in my class on a day to day basis, ranging from 4-9. Yipes. It's been a busy busy week. Our theme for this summer is Michelle Obama's fight against childhood obesity, "Let's Move". All summer, we are doing active things like Zumba classes, aerobics classes, bike day once a week, field trip to somewhere active once a week, Splash day every Friday where they run and play in water...it'll be fun but exhausting. We went to bed around 11:00 last night, but I could have easily gone to bed at 7:30. Lame. I know. Thankfully, I have all really good families who care for their child's health, so we have no issues with overweight children in my class. It breaks my heart to see children who weigh as much as me when they're 7. So so sad. All in all, this will be a fun summer, but busy and tiring! :)

Yesterday morning, I was on my way home from the gym around 6:00, and look what I spotted in the street:
No, not Leia...the turtle!!! It was a big ol' turtle, too! By the way. I LOVE turtles.
Last year, one of my kids brought me one to school. I literally walked into my classroom, and there was a giant turtle on my desk. What in the world?! Too cute. So yes, I like turtles. I was glad I was able to save this one. Leia was happy to meet it too :)

Today is one of my coworker's last day of work, and we are having a big lunch to send her off. We'll miss her dearly. I'll really miss her! She's one of my favorites! I volunteered to make the dessert, because...well...I like making dessert, and I get to taste-test in the kitchen :) So I made Paula Deen's toffee brownies and Neiman Marcus Brownies. Both incredibly delicious! I recommend making both recipes, stat!
