Happy 2 Years

Yes, I realize that calendar page is a few days late, but daggum blogger has been a junky little turd-bucket recently! Now it's up and running again!

Anyhoozers!

Jamie and I have officially been married for 2 gloriously wonderful years!! Sunday was our anniversary and I truly can't believe how quickly time has flown by. I feel like I was wearing that white dress just months ago. By the way, how cool is it that my calendar page was marriage related?! Crazy, huh? I think so.

I started off our anniversary by driving home at the crack of dawn from Tulsa, so that I could make it to Memphis in time to spend most of the day with Jamie. I got in around noon-ish, made some lunch and then had a little cuddle fest on the couch, crashing almost instantly. I was exhausted. We both slept for a few hours, and then I went out for a run to prepare my tummy (and my future excessive calorie intake) for our dinner that evening.

Jamie surprised me by taking me to a nice restaurant called Folk's Folly Prime Steakhouse. I heard about this place and just knew it was going to be beyond delicious!

When we got there, the hostess led us into a private room. Yes. I said private room. Just the two of us.

Look how cute and cozy we are with our balloons:
Jamie said he's only taking one picture for the night, so he refused to smile for this one:
Jerk.

Just joking.

It was so romantic, though, and I felt so blessed to be spending such a nice evening with my husband of 2 years!

Our waitress's name was "Z" and she was lovely!

Here is what we ordered...

Steak Tidbits for an appetizer:
Unique and yummy.

BBQ Shrimp appetizer:
Holy wowzers! So good!

Filet a la Duxelle (my meal):
I work with these really hilarious ladies who were shocked that I ordered a steak! They quickly said, "White girls don't eat red meat!" I said, "You bet your bottom dollar I do!!" They always tell me that I eat rabbit food. Well, now they know that I eat "rabbit food" so that I can scarf down yummy food on special occasions!

Sweet potato side:
Sweet potatoes are my fave!

Jamie ordered some sort of steak with onion rings but he wouldn't let me take a picture. I'm not a big food picture-taker, but since we were in our very own private room, why the heck not?!

For desserts, we shared a hot fudge brownie with vanilla ice cream:
Heaven to my taste buds. Every bit of this meal was delish! What's really funny is that Jamie got a "Jolly Roger" to drink, which is Coke with Grenadine (cherry syrup) and on our receipt, it said "Kiddie Cocktail"! Bahahaha! That was hilarious!

When we got home, we had to take a family picture on our anniversary just like we did last year:
I love this man more and more and more each day and I am thankful for the 2 years we've been married. I am STOKED for the next infinity years that we'll spend together and look forward to the many adventures that are in store for us.

Thank You, Jesus for putting this amazing man of God in my life to lead me as my husband. I'm so blessed he's mine :)

I pray that we always strive to live in a Christian household as said in Ephesians 5:

21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing[b] her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”[c] 32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

If you are married, I hope your marriage has been wonderfully amazing, and blissful, and beautiful, and anointed by the blood of Christ! I pray that your marriage is Christ-centered and that you all love each other as Christ intended you to love. Jamie and I are not perfect by any means, but we make a conscience effort to make sure we are serving each other and loving each other on a daily basis.

Thank you, sweet Jesus for showing us mercy and grace each and every day. Please teach us to grow as husband and wife and to seek Your face throughout our marriage always.

  1. Abby, your blog is so adorable! I just noticed we have the same anniversary and I thought I'd share with you! But mine is a year later, we celebrated our 1 year on Sunday. I thought that was kind of funny. Congrats on everything and it looks like you are doing well!
