When I grow up, I want to be a...

Busy daggum week.

We had our pre-k graduation last night, and this week was busy preparing for it. Monday, I got into my routine again after being gone for 5 days. That's hard to do, ya know. School got out this week, so we've had drop-ins all week. Which means I've had over 20 children under the age of 6 in my class. Yipes! A gal at work who doesn't care for me gave me a hug and is being nice to me again. Yee haw! (This is huge, folks!) Tuesday night, I was supposed to grab dinner with some girlfriends, but a parent meeting ran 40 minutes late, so I missed dinner. Take-home McAlister's? I think so. Wednesday, another late night. Late parents. After having this job, I will ALWAYS do my best to be on time when I pick my kids up from school. And if I happen to be late, I'll say, "Thank you" and "I'm sorry". Those two phrases go a long way. A very long way.

And last night....graduation. Hilarious. The school that I work at puts on a big graduation celebration for the pre-k kids going to kindergarten in the Fall. We sing songs, count in Spanish, all the kids tell their families what they want to be when they grow up, they wear caps and gowns, play with their tassels, and so on. It's a big day :)

All month long, we've been practicing what the kids will say for when they grow up. "When I grow up, I want to be a ______" is what they had to say. Answers varied from batman to spiderman to a doctor, a baker, a scientist, a mommy, a police office, a fire truck (he kept forgetting to say fireMAN instead of truck), and so on. Cute answers. The child who said he wants to be a scientist has the cutest little voice, but I had a hard time understanding him. When he said it, I thought he said "Satanist". Ahhhh!!! Then I thought he said "Santa" (2 pretty different answers). Then I figured it out. Scientist. Thank goodness. I also had 3 kids who said they wanted to be a Red Power Ranger, Batman and Spiderman. I thought those answers were cute and hilarious.

My boss didn't think so, because she knows the parents would want them to appear grown up. Some of these parents....yes.

I know when Jamie and I have kids, we'd be mighty proud if our kid said they wanted to be stinkin' Bob the Builder!
To make a long story short, my kids all practiced saying "real jobs" during our rehearsals, but at the actual ceremony, they said their superhero careers :) I love it! The parents thought it was hilarious and I thought they were precious.

When I was little, I always wanted to be a professional Christian singer and win Dove awards or be a teacher. Pretty different, huh? Well, I got one of those right!

What did you want to be when you grow up? Are you pursuing that career now? Well, whatever you're doing, I hope you're happy :)

In other news...

Jamie and I have BIG news! Not preggo. Good try. Not ready for that quite yet, so unless God has other plans for us, then we won't be planning for little Jamies and Abbys any time soon. But I'll share our fun news at a later date.

Off to get ready for work. Lame. Love y'all. Have a good day!
