Yay for a Long Weekend!!!

So, today is already a fabulous day! Well, my day started at about 5:23 this morning...thank you, Leia. She just decided that it was time to get up, and mom needs to play with her! Brat. So, we both got up and played. Thankfully, the sun is out and shining at that time in the morning, here in Memphis...which I kind of like! Anyway, so the pooch and I were up at the crack o' dawn, ready to roll! Okay, how can you resist this precious face when she's ready to wake up and play!

Anyway, I DID get myself a little cat nap after Jamie left for work to make up for the early wake up from Miss Thang. Jamie, being the spectacular husband that he is, invited me to lunch at work today! I was so excited! So I went to Tom's BBQ and got both of us pulled pork sandwiches with sauce and cole slaw on it...AND...a side of fries. Okay, please try not to picture my thighs growing right now. I promise you I'm working out today and having a lettuce leaf to make up for it! But I don't regret it. Man, it was good!
This place is so good that it was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives! So you KNOW it's good!
Back Ache...
So I've had this really awful back ache for the past week or so. It's my lower back, right above my hiney and oh man it hurts. I've been walking around like I'm preggo (WHICH I'M NOT!!!), holding my back awkwardly. What to do?.... I'm not a fan of going to a chiropractor to pop it and ruin my back for life, but this pain is not exciting me.
Great Song:
So, I've been listening to my new Christian rap CD's that I got a couple weeks ago, and I have a favorite. It's my favorite because of the mini-sermon at the end. The song, "Who is He?" by Json and featuring Lecrae is amazing! And here are the words to the sermon at the end. I'm not sure if it is a real sermon from a real preacher, but it's amazing. Here it is:
"In order for Jesus to suffer in God, he had to plan it way ahead of time because He couldn't die. He was immortal. He didn't have a human body and yet he wanted to die. For you. So he planned the whole thing by clothing Himself with a body, so that he could get hungry and get weary and get sore feet. The incarnation is the preparation of nerve endings for the nails. The preparation of a brow for the thorns to press through. He needed to have a broad back so that there was a place for the whip. He needed to have a feet so that there was a place for spikes. He needed to have sides so that there was a place for the sword to go in. He needed to have fleshy cheeks so that Judas would have a place to kiss, and that there would be a place for spit to run down that the soldiers put on Him. He needed a brain and a spinal column. With no vinegar and no gauze, so that the exquisiteness of the pain could be fully felt. I just plead with you. When you're reading the bible, and when you read water toy text like, "He loved you, and gave Himself for you," you wouldn't go too fast over it. Linger, linger, LINGER, and plead with Him that your eyes would be opened."
Wow. Isn't that just powerful? I've grown up always hearing, "Jesus loved you so much that He died for you." And yes, that's true, but I need to start thinking of everything that went into that ultimate sacrifice. God could have sent Jesus here to die without pain and tears, but Jesus came fully human. He has muscles, bones, nerves, blood, tears, and so on. He felt the nails in his wrists and feet. He felt the spear shoot through His sides. He felt the spit hit his face. He felt the hateful vengeance towards Him. He felt the thorns on His face and He could see the blood roll past His eyes and down His face and body. You guys, He was there for it all and felt EVERYTHING! Can you even imagine that? Think about it for just a few seconds. Actually, do what the song says and linger on it. Stop what you're doing and linger on that idea. The first time I heard that song and the final sermon, I was on a walk in my neighborhood and just started weeping (thank goodness for sunglasses, right?). Anyway, it just hit me so hard to know that my sweet Jesus truly became human so that he could fully die for us and and show His unconditional love for us in the most incredible way.
Read through this passage today and linger on it. Spend some time today thanking Jesus for His sacrifice and love for us. I love you guys and hope this hits your heart in a powerful way. I don't want my words to hit you, but God's power and God's love for us.

  1. We have never eaten there. Perhaps we should try it sometime. If you cave and want to see a chiropractor... I see one and really like him.

  2. Good stuff as always, Abbsbud. For your back I recommend a heating pad, maybe treat yourself to a massage. It's the weirdest thing, but when my feet hurt I get a pedicure and it works wonders. They aren't doctors, but they help a LOT just by relieving stress! Love you!
