Weekend Recap

FIRST AND FOREMOST: I was watching the news this morning, and Memphis currently has a modern day superhero in our midst! His name is "The Viper" and he wears a green, head-to-toe onesie unitard thing and keeps his eyes open, looking for crime! I'M NOT MAKING THIS UP! So, basically, he looks out for crime and then calls the police to stop it...but bless his little green heart. He wanders around Memphis in this onesie and tries his darndest to stop crime! I now feel a little safer in this great city. Thank you, Mr. Superhero Viper!

This has been a fantabulous weekend! First of all, Jamie was home with me for 3 full days! He had Monday off which was just stellar!

Friday:
Jamie came home from work and we just hung out at the house and had salads for dinner. Yeah I said it. We both had a refreshing and healthy salad and nothing else for dinner! (But if you recall my previous post, we DID munch on some thigh-enlarging Toms BBQ...the salad makes up for it, right?) Then we went to the gym to get some sweat action in!

Saturday:
SLEPT IN TIL 9:00!!! Thank you, Leia for not waking up at the crack o' dawn as usual! I made my usual "Syrup Saturday" pancakes. This week, I felt lazy and just used the Heart Smart Bisquick recipe. Lame. I happened to be watching Food Network at the gym Friday night (go figure), and someone (don't remember who) was making pancakes with bacon. Like they put the bacon on the skillet, and then poured the pancake mix over it. Jamie began salivating and asked very nicely if I'd make him a bacon pancake. Eww. But I did it. Just for him. He loved it. I...did not.
Jamie went to the gym, but my back was in awful awful pain, so I did not :( It's feeling a little better, but still not 100%. I've been living with my heating pad...yeah I'm an old woman. We just slugged around on Saturday and it was PERFECT!!
That afternoon, we had a lupper (Lunch and Supper combined...even though I HATE the word "supper", it's just more fun than linner...lunch and dinner combined). Anyway, we had a gift card to Red Lobster, so we dined there, and it was quite yummy. Then we walked around the mall to people watch and just hang out with one another. After that, Jamie won my heart by taking me to TCBY for some much needed fro yo! I got white chocolate mouse frozen yogurt parfait and it was just perfect! Thank you, Jamie!
Later that night, we saw Toy Story 3 with Phillip and Emily and oh my sweetness. It was precious. I cried like a child. It was heart felt and touching. Everyone hear me now: Re-watch Toy Story 1 and 2 and then go see Toy Story 3 in the theater! You'll love it!

Sunday:
This was probably my favorite day of the weekend. Jamie and I went to Sunday School (kicking and screaming practically), and "Big Church". I met this sweet girl named Brittney who so kindly introduced herself to me. We are actually going to lunch today, because she was in the same position last summer that I am in now. She and her hubster moved here from Arkansas knowing no one, so she feels my "pain." She's a delight and I'm glad to have a new friend.
After church, Jamie and I went to Emily's parents' house for lunch. What a fun family! Jamie is now BFF with Emily's brother and I'm pretty sure they have a man crush on one another. Phillip and Jamie went golfing and Emily and I got together with our doggies and had a play date. She's got a little pug named Daisy. They enjoyed each other's company and will be playing together soon :)
As for celebrating the 4th...we didn't. I did wear a blue-ish dress to church. And we could HEAR fireworks that night. Does that count? Sure.

Monday:
Yesterday was such a chill day. We had breakfast and then headed to the gym for a good morning work out. We both kinda did our own thing. Jamie played video games, went long boarding, watched a movie and just hung out. I cleaned, went to Kroger, cooked some good eats and got ready for our lovely company, Phillip and Emily. I made Pioneer Woman's Chicken Spaghetti and Apple Dumplings. Holy Butterness. Good food! The chicken spaghetti was absolute perfection! And the apple dumplings were just heaven to the tongue. Here are the links so that you can make both of these recipes yourself. And I highly recommend it!

The Bachelorette:
I wasn't too surprised that Ty went home, and thought that last night's episode was underwhelming, but the Vienna and Jake throw down at the end was just exhausting and kind of unnecessary. I don't think anyone was too into that relationship anyway, because Jake is a bit of a tool and Vienna...I'm not even going there. But their little hissy fit last night was flat out embarrassing.
Who's going home next week?
What do you think Frank is going to talk to Ali about in a couple weeks?
What are your bachelorette thoughts?
These are hot topics, ya know?!

This week, I'm heading to T-Town for my sweet friend, Meredith's wedding! Oh I'm so excited! I'll get to see friends and family and be around lots of familiarity. I've missed that. So much. So I'm ready for that. Have a Terrific Tuesday and enjoy life today! Love you guys!

  2. Oh boy. I was shocked that she sent Ty home! I thought for sure that Kirk was going home since she acted all weird on their date. And I thought it would be Ty, Frank, and Roberto in the final 3! I think Kirk should go home next week. And Frank is getting way too whiney for me, I wish she would just get rid of him. Even though I love him, he's cracking under bachelorette pressure! Love you Abbsbud, my prayers are with your poor back!!
