"Satan and Demons"

This morning at church, Brother Gaines spoke about Satan and Demons---another very powerful sermon presented by this outstanding man of God! I'm not kidding you, Bellevue is the first church that I have truly been excited to attend every Sunday. He is the first pastor that I could listen to for longer than 28 minutes. He ran a bit late today, and I was great with it! He just speaks such truth, and it is evident that his relationship with Christ is genuine and strong and powerful. Anyway, these are the notes from today's sermon. I wanted to share them with you, because it was a mighty message that we all need to hear. Also, please do not merely blaze through these notes. Get on the Bellevue website and hear this message and follow along with my notes. Look up the scriptures listed and be amazed at God's awesome message!

Ten facts about Satan:

1. He is real--Jesus talked more about Satan than anyone else in the New Testament

2. He is a created being (Ezekiel 28:15-19)

3. He committed the first sin--not Eve (Isaiah 14:12-17; Ezekiel 28:15-19)

4. He possesses personality

5. He is a spirit being--he does not have a physical body, but he CAN, however, possess a human body

6. He has many names

-Adversary (1 Peter 5:8)--He can destroy your witness, but never your salvation

-Apollyon (Revelation 9:11--"Destroyer"; God=Creator, Satan=Destroyer...complete opposites

-The Evil One (John 17:15; 2 Thessalonians 3:3)

-Serpent (Genesis 3:1; Revelation 12:9)

-Tempter (1 Thessalonians 3:5)

-Father of Lies (John 8:44)--Lying is Satan's native tongue

-God of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4)

-Accuser of the brethren (Revelation 12:10)--"Finger Pointer"; He'll always tell you your faults and flaws

-The Enemy (Luke 10:19)

-Murderer (John 8:44)

7. He blinds people to the Gospel (2 Corinthians 4:4)

8. He steals God's Word from seekers (Luke 9:12)

9. Jesus deflated him at the cross (Colossians 2:14-15; 1 John 3:8)

10. He ill be cast into hell (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:7-10)

So far, just from this list, who would you rather serve? Satan? Or our Heavenly Father? I know who I'm choosing.

  1. I think this is such a great post. It's so easy to forget that Satan is just as real as Jesus...to me anyway. I tend to just forget about him! I just think this is fabulous info! Love you!
