Birthday Weekend with the Schoenthaler's

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE TWO GREATEST MEN I KNOW!!!! My Dooda and my Hubby!!!

My daddy's birthday was yesterday, April 14th, and Jamie's birthday is today, April 15th! Happy Birthday to you both! I love you more than words can truly say!!!

To celebrate Jamie's birthday, his mom and dad visited us for the weekend. Marty and Kim arrived on Friday afternoon and we hit the ground running with a yummy snack at Cain's for some good ol' chicken and fries. We drove around River Ranch a little bit to show them the giant and beautiful homes in the heart of Lafayette. Gorgeous.

After hanging around our apartment for a while, we ventured out to Randol's for a little crawfish boil action. Man, that's a lot of work cracking those crawfish. And you only get a little smidgen of crawfish meat out of those little tails. It's work, but it sure it yummy! No head sucking for me though! Everyone else at the table ate the brains and head goo from the crawfish, but not this girl. Nu uh no way! I'll keep the tail, thank you very much.

We checked Marty and Kim in their hotel and they gave Jamie his b-day gift which was an iPod Nano watch:

How cool is that watch? It's an iPod Nano that clicks on to a watch band. You can change the face of the watch, track your distance while running or biking and so much more. Very cool watch. Very happy husband.

The evening ended with a little ice cream from Maggie Moo's and a drive downtown. Day one: Fabulous.

Saturday morning, Kim and I enjoyed a nice long walk and a Sonic beverage to start off our day. We had breakfast at T-Coons, a really tasty local restaurant. We ate there with my family as well and their sweet potato pancakes are derlish!

We headed on over to the UL campus to go alligator sight-seeing and enjoy the beautiful Louisiana weather. It was a gorgeous Spring day and we wanted to spend some of it outside. We saw several alligators, but I was mostly interested in the turtles.

Go figure.
These turtles were everywhere!
Marty, Kim and Jamie:
Me, Kim and Jamie:
I love my sweet family.

And I love turtles.

Look at this one riding on its mama's back:

I like to think it's his little mama. And now look at this little turtle train of three:

So cute. I love them.

When we left UL, we drove down to the port to look at where Jamie works and see what he does everyday. That was really fun :) For a midday snack, we went to Don's Specialty Meats to snack on some boudin and cracklin's. Now that's some true Louisiana cuisine.

The boys went back to the apartment to watch some Spring football and take a snooze while Kim and I went shopping. We found some really cute skirts and dresses and a really funky scarf. I'll be sure to do a fashion show for the blog later. I'll give you a heads up that the clothes I bought may end up being a good collection of dresses for another Duggar post.

That night, we had a yummy birthday dinner for James at the one and only Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. Between the four of us, we had Filets, caesar salads, lobster bisque, chopped salad, sweet potatoes, au gratin potatoes, bread and butter and a delicious assortment of desserts.

Jamie got a special dessert for his birthday:

Chocolate mousse and berries and cream (my favorite!)

The birthday boy:
Then we all split, the Chocolate explosion cake, white chocolate bread pudding and cheesecake:
That is a table full of belly aches. Delicious belly aches. Now my thighs are chunkier and my butt is lumpier. Awesome.

Post dessert, we headed back to the apartment to watch Family Guy (classy, I know) and then go to bed.

For breakfast this morning, we ate at Another Broken Egg (my favorite breakfast joint) before taking Marty and Kim to the airport.

Me and my cute birthday boy:

After we dropped them off, it was nap time for me and Jamie. Sunday afternoon naps are the best. So I took one :) We were already missing Marty and Kim and are beyond grateful that they took a weekend out of their busy lives to come spend time with us. Even Leia whimpered the whole way home after we dropped them off at the airport. She was in mourning that her weekend guests were gone. Leia, you have been a great hostess. Marty and Kim, we love you both so very much.

Tonight for dinner, I surprised my birthday hubby with birthday pizza:
Deano's is one of our favorites! Jamie's half is The T-Rex (a meat lovers pizza) and I got Hawaii 5-O (pineapples, jalapeƱos, green peppers, canadian bacon and chicken sausage) on top of a whole wheat crust:
I hope you had a fabulous birthday, my dear. I love my darling Jamie more than life! Love love LOVE you!

And no birthday is complete without the Birthday Weinie:
Yay for birthdays!

Love you guys! Hope you had a good weekend!
