Glee...What Happened to You?

All of you should know by now my obsession with music/musicals/Glee/etc. That should be super obvious. However. Glee this season has kind of bummed me out a little bit. Has the music been outstanding?!? DUH! Are the actors still just as cute? Of course! Is Mr. Schuester still a hottie-pa-tottie? Always. But the sexual discussions and actions have become rather excessive, don't cha think?

Last season, Quinn got pregnant, and that was a shock! It was looked down upon. It was not something that was praised. Was she supported and loved by her friends? Absolutely. But, it was not something that anyone was too proud of. Last season, it was a show focusing more on music and what being a Glee Club member is like. It was more of a musical comedy than an almost-R-rated show. Last season was cutesy and fun and upbeat and positive. I really enjoyed last season and wish there was more of that for Season 2.

So far in Season 2, the music has been unreal! It's been out of this world and I am blown away week by week with the talent brought by these new and precious actors. That's a given. However...the girl on girl kissing is unnecessary. Dreaming about "Beast" so the boys can "chill out" and "calm down" when getting it on with a girl was worthless and an unneeded conflict in the storyline. Beast is an unnecessary character in this season anyway. The little sexcapade with Mr. Schu and Ms. Pillsbury in the Rocky Horror picture show episode was erotic and inappropriate. As much as I loved Brittany's dancing in the "Britney Spears" episode (she's a fabulous dancer), the sexuality of it all was a little much.

All this to say, I think the Glee directors and producers and writers took this season a little too far. Sex sells and we all know that. But Glee sold brilliantly last season, and I wish we saw more of that Glee this season. If I had kids, I would not let them watch Glee this season. I would let them listen to the songs, but not watch the show. The hype of sex is a little much. Yes, I'm an adult. Yes, I'm married. Yes, I know high school kids have sex. Yes, I know that these actors are not high schoolers, BUT they ARE portraying them! And I think when they are being so sexual on screen, it is only further promoting sexual acts for young teens. Lord knows teens don't need to be encouraged in their sex lives any more than they already are!

Let's keep their sweet minds pure! Let's encourage them in that, rather than encouraging sex and sexual exploration and so forth. I'd like to see a TV show out there that campaigns for teens and how they should strive for sexual purity rather than the sweet/crazy Duggar Family. It's one of the best decisions I've ever made...remaining pure for my sweet husband.

I don't mean to get on a soap box about this, but I am sick of seeing sex everywhere, and as much as I love the music in Glee, the sexual exploitation of that show has exhausted and disgusted me. No, I'm not naive. I realize that sex is everywhere these days, but I am disappointed in Glee because they were so successful last season without all the sex talk. There was no need for it this season. And I HIGHLY doubt anyone called or wrote in saying, "Hey, Glee is super great, but add a lot of sexual actions in the next season. Thanks!" Yeah. That probably didn't happen.

Agree with me or not, but that's my 2 cents for today.

Jesus loves you and so do I!

"Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your body." 1 Corinthians 6:18-20
