Unless you've been living under a rock for the past week or so, then you know there is a hurricane a brewing! Hurricane Isaac to be exact. Well, I live in Lafayette, LA, and it is headed my way. I've learned that the city of Lafayette acts like Tulsa does during a snow storm. Lots of freaking out. Lots of spastic people buying bottled water and gasoline. It's been a bit of a mad house here since Monday. Understandably so. Katrina kind of shook up the state of Louisiana, so everyone would rather be safe than sorry. And as my Grandma Bonnie used to say, and better paranoid than dead :) I like that last part.
Here's the most recent radar I could find on the internet:
Lafayette is to the left of the picture. So far, it's just been REALLY stinkin' windy and rainy here and there.
This is what it looked like this morning when I walked Leia. It was fairly bright outside, but dark clouds were blazing by faster than I've ever seen:
Jamie and I feel very prepared for this hurricane. I've been told that Lafayette doesn't get hit too too badly, but the absolute worst that could happen is that our windows get blown in and we could lose power for a few days. That's doable, right?
I've got my Kindle in case the power goes out:
Jamie and I are reading The Hobbit...I'm having a hard time getting into it. Not my kind of book.
I bought a gigantic case of bottled water:
Plenty of snacks:
I've also got fresh fruit and sandwich makings.
Candles and flashlights and tape to tape up our windows just in case we feel it necessary to do so:
I've got my puppy:
She is stoked to have us both home today!
And games:
If you're in a city that will get hit harder than us, then please be safe! We're praying for everyone who is in Isaac's path and pray that it dissipates sooner than later.
Love you guys!
