We're Still Princesses. All of Us.

I grew up watching the sweet movie, A Little Princess. It's about a girl named Sara whose father goes to fight in World War II and she has to stay at this all girls boarding school in New York. From the get-go, Sara clashed with the headmistress, Miss Minchin, who discourages Sara's creativity, enthusiasm and zest for life. Suddenly, her father is presumed dead and she has to give up her lavish lifestyle and live in the servant's quarters. She grew up believing that she and all girls are princesses. That thought was tested when she was forced to live as a servant.

One night (in the movie), Miss Minchin tried to tell Sara that she was not a princess anymore and this was Sara's response:

I am unable to embed the video, but if you'd like to watch the scene where Sarah says this line, watch it here. It's beautiful and powerful and full of truth.

When I watch that part in the move and read that quote, it gives me chills and quite honestly makes me a little teary eyed, because how many times in our lives are we convinced that we are anything but a princess?

For example, this morning I went to the gym and the enemy was fighting me big time. I was taking a weight lifting class with a bunch of ladies who had perfect bodies, matching Nike attire, knew everybody in the class and just seemed to have their lives all put together. I was in bleach-stained shorts, a wrinkled, baggy shirt and tennis shoes that I got for $39.99 at DSW, and I knew no one. I stood in the back, took the class, and left quietly. I just felt out of place and unworthy.

What?! Something that trivial and silly got me upset?! Insane, huh?

Ladies, we are constantly fighting the evil one who prowls around like a roaring lion waiting to attack our self esteem and our self value, whispering into our ears that we are nothing. We are useless. We are ugly. We are dumb. We are invaluable. We are anything but a princess.

What a bunch of bunk that is!

Girlfriends, listen up. Each and every one of you is a princess. Better yet, a child of God! As it says in 2nd Corinthians 6:17-18, "I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty." You don't get much better than that, my friends.

If your earthy daddy never told you that you are a princess, I am sorry, but rest assured and be convinced that you are not only a princess but that you are a child of God. You are chosen and made in His perfect image.

I pray that you all are able to look at yourself in the mirror and and tell yourself, "I AM a princess." Who cares where you live, what you wear, what your GPA is, where you work, how much you're making, what you drive, who you know, etc. None of that matters in the Kingdom. None of that matters to God.

No matter what the enemy feeds you, listen to me now and believe that YOU. ARE. A. PRINCESS.

I love you guys and if you need further encouragement about being a child of God and a precious and beautiful princess, then please contact me. I am really passionate about this topic and have a heart for girls who need to know their value in Christ. God bless y'all and have a wonderful day.

"How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called Children of God! And that is what we are!" 1 John 3:1
