Me and My Buddy

It's been a long summer. A long summer of loneliness. Now, I don't want you thinking that I'm about to get all sappy and feel sorry for myself, because I'm not. But just think about it. I've got lots of time to myself.

I haven't had a job all summer since I've been getting our house ready to sell.

I've been home all day, every day, packing up little things, straightening things up here and there, making our house "showable" to future buyers.

Jamie leaves for work around 6:45 and gets home around 5:15. That's a long day of just me time.

My only interaction with another human is either at the gym or the grocery store. And that hardly counts...

All this to say, I am beyond grateful that I've got my little pup to keep me company! So, I've compiled a bunch of pictures (plus a few randoms) to share with you before we leave town. I know you've been deprived of your fix of Leia pictures, so I'll fill your mind with some cuteness that'll last throughout the week.

Keep in mind that these pictures were all taken within about a week. And it's not even all of them. That's how much time the pooch and I spend together :)

Hanging out in the backyard...smelling my foot:
Now she's angry with herself for smelling my foot. Sorry pup:
Wishing Jamie left breakfast for her once he left for work. Yet again...sorry pup:
She does that every single day. The second Jamie leaves the table after eating breakfast, Leia takes his spot and looks to see what all he's left her. Sometimes she's gotten lucky, but most of the time, it's a no-go.

Nomming on a peanut-butter-flavored raw hide:
Get it, gurl:
She could care less about that flipped-up ear as long as she's got her some PB-flavored goodness:
Oooo just look at that face of sheer happiness:
Our poor neighbor's car. I came to find out that this girl's boyfriend and his friends did this to her truck overnight. It took her a good 30 minutes to de-crap it:
My snuggle buddy right before I went to bed:
Baff time!!! Look at that worried face:
Oh. My. Goodness. Does she know how to rock the pathetic look, or what?! This is her post-baff (and my new favorite picture). Clean little pup:
Look at how lush my flowers have grown! I'm so pleased:
Lulu loves to stick her head out the window and feel the breeze:
Taking a break from the wind:
Lulu Bear loves her some warm sheets right out of the dryer:
I visited the Chi O house at Rhodes this week to bring them some cookies for Recruitment. What a good little alumni I am:
Peek-a-boo! I see you! Leia climbed all over my neatly made bed to hide and sleep under all of the pillows:
Well, that's all the cuteness I have for now. Jamie and I are leaving in a couple hours to go find a place to live in Lafayette. Send us some well wishes!

By the way, how do you say "Lafayette"?

Here's what I've heard:
  • Law-fee-et (this is how I hear it pronounced the most)
  • Law-fay-et (heard this one the least and I think it sounds the silliest)
  • Laff-ee-et (hear this one a bunch)
All in all, I could care less how you say it, because it just flat out don't matter :) I say the top one because that's how I hear most people say it when we visited a few months ago. I'm hoping after our stay there this weekend that my cajun accent has developed a bit and that I start to sound a little more like the guys from Swamp People once I move there for good. I'll keep you updated.

I'll be a better blogger once I return from our trip. This has been a busy couple weeks with a lot going on (believe it or not), but I'll be back to business next week.

Love you guys and have a safe and fabulous rest of the week!

  1. Love your pooch pics. We are leaning more and more towards getting a Dachshund every time I see your precious one. It won't be for a couple of years but it's a big decision right?! Why not plan now? lol. Good luck with all the moving stuff and P.S., as I live in West Lafayette, IN people definitely use the top pronunciation the most here too for "Lafayette" so that's how I say it. :)

  3. I just randomly found your blog and wanted to empathize with you on the loneliness! I'm a substitute teacher and couldn't find a summer job so I didn't work all summer either...and my husband works from 10-8...so it definitely made for some long days by myself too. I hope that things start to pick up for you after the move and you can have some more human interaction. :)

  4. Kelly, Dachshunds are the best ever! She is my very first dog and I love her to pieces. She's the sweetest cuddle buddy and just a good friend :)
Brittany, when we don't have kids, our fur babies are our real children!
Stef, so glad you stopped by the blog and I'm glad/sorry you're in the same boat I'm in. We're about to move to Louisiana, so I'll be in a new city with no friends no job and pretty lost...nervous yet excited about it. I'll be praying you find something soon!
