I know you're shocked...

You see that up there? You see that technology contraption thing? You see that rectangular dealy-bobber with a touch screen and just one button? Kind of looks like a computer type of fandangled robot?

Gosh, I'm starting to sound like Grandpa from Rugrats:

As most of you up-to-date people already know, that thing is a Nook Color. I'm sure many of you already own a Kindle or Nook or download books onto your iPad too. I'm so not a technology buff, but this thing is pretty cool!

Many of you know I am not a reader. Never have been, but have always hoped to be. I blame it on the schools. When I was in high school, yes we read some of the "classics", but when those classics are as boring as watching the grass grow, that leaves little to no motivation to read. Poor excuse, but that's all I've got.

Throughout the years, I've read a few books that I've fallen in love with and always wonder why that doesn't spark my desire to read more. Well, I think it's finally begun! In the past 2.5 weeks, I've read 3 books my friends. THREE! I have never done that and I've really enjoyed it.

Jamie got the idea to get me a Kindle for my birthday, which is in November. He said if I keep up my reading streak, then I'll get a Kindle or a Nook or something. (Does he sound like a dad or what?! "If you clean your room every day, I'll get you a new purse.") I don't blame him though. I've done my research, and I want that good looking Nook Color. And of course once I get that cute little Nook Color, I'll have to cute-ify it with a Vera Bradley cover. Then I'll be a reading machine!

But until then, I've got plenty of books to keep myself busy that I've had for a while. Just look at what's in store for me:
  1. The Help by Kathryn Stockett--I read this book last Fall and loved it! I'm going to read it again before my mom comes to visit in a couple weeks, because we're going to go see the movie.
  2. Just Beyond the Clouds by Karen Kingsbury--I just read the first part of this series on the cruise and totally connected with the characters in the story. I was attached. Can't wait to start this book.
  3. Teach Me how to Love You by Thomas Weeks III--It's about communication and intimacy in relationships. Always good to learn more about communicating better as a wife.
  4. Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis--This book is wildly intimidating. I've got to be honest. I read the Preface and the Forward a few years ago and almost threw up because it was so hard to understand! But I'm going to conquer this baby!
  5. For Better or for Best: Understanding Your Husband by Gary Smalley--Every wife needs to own this book!!! I've read a few pages here and there and it is so encouraging and truly does help you understand that crazy male breed that we're married to.
  6. The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis--Another C.S. Lewis book...challenging. But I've heard this one's phenomenal. Can't wait to start!
  7. The Marriage You've Always Dreamed Of by Dr. Greg Smalley--These Smalley guys know their stuff regarding marriage and relationships. I am in a marriage that I've always dreamed of, but I know I can always make it better!
  8. The True Story of Hansel and Gretel: a novel of war and survival by Louise Murphy--Another fictional book set in WWII about little Jewish boy and girl who change their names to Hansel and Gretel, wandering the woods to find their mom and dad. So looking forward to reading this novel!!
  9. When Two Become One by Christopher and Rachel McCluskey--This one is strictly for married couples out there because it's about blending the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of marriage with the sexual. So far, it's a great read!
So excited for all nine of these books and hopefully I can keep this up so that I can get a Nook Color in November for my B-Day!! Woop whoop! What are you all reading right now? Anything fabulous? Let me know!

Aight. It's 12:07. I'm hungro and ready for some food! Hope your Tuesday is terrific! Love you guys!
