Another crazy week. When you work retail during the Holidays, life gets a little crazy. Since I don't have much to say, I'll fill you in on a few things going on in my life. Nothing grand. Nothing deep. Nothing insightful. Nothing life changing. Just stuff going on :)
1. Oklahoma State won last weekend against OU!!!!
2. Weight training is kicking my tail
I go to weight training class 3 days a week and it is insane! One of the teachers is mean as a snake (and she'll tell you that herself) and I wouldn't be caught dead slacking off in her class!! I better be a buff beauty in the year 2012 if I keep this up!
3. I'm breaking out like crazy for some reason. So I did a mask yesterday.
Looking at this picture humbles me in a mighty way. Oh gosh. That's a scary sight. I really shouldn't post such hideous pictures on this blog. Kids might be watching! But really...I have pimples galore on my face and it's grossing me out! (And you're probably grossed out too now...sorry 'bout that!)
4. Leia licks. And licks. And licks.
Mostly on our bed, and she leaves really charming wet spots on the sheets. Thanks, Lulu. You're a real peach.
5. I made a fool of myself today. I was walking Leia (she's a weenie dog, by the way), and I saw another guy around my age, probably older, walking his weenie dog, and listen to what I said as I bent down to pet the dog, "Oh look at the little wiener!" WHAT?!?! Little wiener?!?! I caught myself the second I said it and I apologized instantly. The guy started laughing and told me that's the meanest thing anyone has ever said to him. Oh I was mortified!!! I told him that I should know better, because kids are always screaming "Look! A wiener!" whenever I walk Leia. He thought it was funny, thank goodness! But I think I discovered 28 new shades of red on my face this morning...wildly embarrassing...
6. I learned what the word "terse" means, thanks to the dictionary on my Kindle.
7. I LOVE MY KINDLE!
It's so wonderful!
I've already started reading Karen Kingsbury's Bailey Flanigan series, and love it thus far. Thank you, Mama and Dooda, for such a fun gift! And thank you, Camie, for my cute cover!
8. Still praying for friends.
At work, we keep this little flip calendar in the back and I read this one last week and it has resonated in my heart for obvious reasons. In each stage in my life, I have met godly friends who have been wonderful blessings to me. High school, college, Chi O, Memphis--I've met countless friends during all of those stages. Now I'm in Lafayette. I'm still searching for godly friends, but I'm also realizing that maybe I can be a godly person in someone's life as well. Maybe someone is looking for me. I work with these sweet girls who are in high school and one is a freshman in college and I promise I'm not trying to toot my horn, but they seem to look up to me. They ask me lots of questions about life, marriage, religion and so on. It's been amazing and fulfilling to get to feed into them what I've learned in the past 25 years.
(Good gosh, I'm 25...)
But it just hit me this week that maybe I need to start listening to what God is telling me to do. Maybe while we're here in Lafayette, it's my turn to feed into others. It's my job to be a disciple. It's my job to teach others what I know, which isn't much, but I think it's worth something, ya know? :)
I'm still praying for some godly friends to come into my life--ones that I can relate to, laugh with, go grab coffee, go on a walk and so on. I don't have that yet, and I pray for that friend daily. Just one.
I hope you guys are having an amazing week. Kirby, my brother in law, comes in town tomorrow morning and I am beyond stoked!! Whoop whoop! See you in the morning, Kirb! We're planning on getting some Cajun food, hanging out, going to a gumbo cook off and just hanging out. Oh, and Jamie and Kirby will do their fair share of saving the world via "Call of Duty". Thank you, gentlemen.
Until then, I must take a bath, read some of my book, clean up a bit and finish watching SVU and Home Alone with my beloved.
Love you guys! Happy Thursday!

Abby,
ReplyDeleteMy dog Scarlett does that all the time!! It drives me crazy because I roll over into it. She seems to only do it when I am stressed out! It's crazy!
