Confessions of a Porn Star

I sure bet that title grabbed your attention. I'm just going to get to the point.

No I'm not confessing that I'm a porn star. Good try.

This weekend, I saw the most interesting video. Someone had posted a youtube video on Facebook. It was a man rapping about the dangers of porn and sex addiction. "Why in the world were you watching that?" you ask? It caught my attention and I'm glad it did.

This guy was rapping about how he overcame his addiction to porn and sex through God's grace and finding salvation. I finished the video, feeling very impressed and excited that someone was bold enough to be proud about overcoming such a widespread addiction. He was proud that he was no longer held captive to sex and lustful images. I felt honored to be his sister in Christ.

You know when you finish a youtube video and then it takes you to more videos? Well, this one took me to one that I was glad to stumble upon. It was a video by an ex-porn star. I was nervous to open it at first, because I didn't want it to be actual porn. I don't remember the title, but it was along the lines of "the truth about the negativity of porn" or something like that. So, I took the risk and opened it.

I watched it, and it's an ex-porn star who explains that porn ruined her life. When she was in the porn industry, she was seriously dating a guy who watched porn that she wasn't even in. She felt devalued. She felt insecure. She felt unloved. She felt betrayed. Why would the boyfriend of a porn star watch someone else's porn when he's got all he needs right there? She ended up dumping the guy and got out of the porn business for good, because she realized how destructive that business is, not only for her but for all women who know men that struggle with that addiction.

I thought that video was unbelievably interesting, because I feel wildly passionate for girls in the porn industry. I am passionate that they see how desolate their lives are and that they ruin relationships, marriages, friendships and pure hearts.

I realize that there are probably no porn stars that read this blog, but I just want to make you readers out there aware that there are women who are struggling emotionally in the porn business. Pray for them. They are lost. They are often hopeless. They're seeking some kind of affirmation through sex and lust, yet they're continually empty. I know that it is easy for me to think of them as dirty trash, but I need to do quite the opposite. I need to pray that there are more girls out there like the one in that video, who realize that porn is damaging and evil. It truly is the devils work and it is our job as believers to pray and fight against it.

Pray that these men and women who are in the business to realize who created them, our Heavenly Father, stop what they're doing, flee and repent and come running to the cross, knowing that they're hearts are worth saving.

I love this verse:

I just looked up "wellspring" and it is defined as: fountain; origin, root, source. Guarding your heart is the beginning of new life. The people in this industry have the chance to have new life in Christ. Everyone take some time today and pray for them, that they guard their heart and seek salvation and a brand new life in our sweet Jesus.

Love you guys.
