An Oklahoma Thanksgiving

Best. Weekend. Ever.

I've been looking forward to Thanksgiving weekend all Fall. It's my favorite Holiday and really kicks off the best time of the year.

Jamie and I left Lafayette around 7:00 AM Wednesday morning and made the LONG trek to Tulsa. It was about an 8 and a half hour drive. Very long but not terrible. That night, we had sushi at In The Raw with my parents, Angela and Jon. They flew home (lucky dogs) and it was so great to be home with family. I loved every second.

Thursday morning, I woke up and headed to the gym to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. It's one of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving and I don't remember a year without watching it. I love the floats, the Broadway clips, the lip singing, the celebs and more. I just absolutely love it!

Then I made my Nutella Pecan Pie that I found on Pinterest and it was absolutely delicious and oh so easy! I highly recommend it.

Lunch was at my Aunt's house and we always do a really traditional Thanksgiving meal which I absolutely love. Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole (my top favorite), rolls, green bean casserole, gravy, noodles, cranberry stuff (never touched it), pumpkin pie, pecan pie, fresh whipped cream, sweet tea, unsweet tea...and I think that's it :) I hardly ever eat the turkey because I love the sides so much. Plus, when I was little, I had the throw-ups on Thanksgiving and I vividly remember the smell of turkey making me sick. So it's still hard to eat and not think of that sad holiday.

My Aunt Debi and Aunt Leslie, my dad's sisters:
Looking very stripe-alicious, might I add!

Thursday afternoon, we just hung out at the house and attempted to let our food digest. Thanksgiving night, we have a tradition of going to see a movie. We almost always see something stupid, so this year we played it safe. I saw Tower Heist a few weeks ago and really liked it, so we saw that :) Thankfully most everyone enjoyed it as well.

Friday morning, I had coffee with my sweet friend Stacy. Stacy and I grew up together at Jenks and I just adore that lady! So glad I got to see you, my dear!!

After coffee, Jamie and I got back in the car and headed to Bartlesville to do Thanksgiving Part II with his family. We had BBQ with lots of yummy sides at his house! Mmm Mmm good! It was a good break from the traditional Thanksgiving meal the day before.

And although this picture is precious, I'm so mad at myself that this is the only picture I got which we were at Jamie's parents' house!!:
I hate it when I'm a bad picture-taker!

At Friday Thanksgiving, there was Papa, Meme, Jamie's mom and dad (Kim and Marty), his sister--Camie and her boyfriend, Darrin. We had a ball together, talking, eating, relaxing, laughing and just enjoying each other's company.

That night, we got some frozen custard and enjoyed the Christmas lights at Woolaroc. Let the Christmas season begin!

Saturday, we lounged, I biked, we ate, got pedicures and just hung out. It was a marvelously relaxing day. And that night, we headed back to my parents house to eat dinner there and celebrate my 25th birthday! Oh yeah, I turn 25 tomorrow on the 28th! That's half of a century! Holy-mom-boli!

Well, it's 8:58 and I am exhausted from driving all day. Jamie actually let me drive most of the way. The time passed fairly quickly because I watched 4 Christmas movies :) I love the Holidays!
