Let's start the day off right with a picture of this gigantic carrot that I found at the Fresh Pickin's Market:
In other news...I've decided that I need to make a change in my life. A major change, if you will. A personal change. A vain change.
I need to change my make-up.
All my life, I've worn whatever I can find at Walgreens or Wal-Mart or the beloved Target. And here's what I've kept it in since high school:
I know, right?! It's insane how large that make-up box is for a girl who doesn't wear that much make-up at all. But I've got it all organized:
Lipsticks on the top "shelf". I have most of my lipstick in a bag that I keep in my purse at all times. Side note: My family has very little lips. We all love lipstick and wear it a lot because we practically have invisible lips without it. I love lipstick.
Mascara, eye liner, eye brushes, blush brushes, blush and a few other randoms are on the second "shelf" and all of my eye shadows and concealers and all that junk is at the bottom.
Do I wear it all? Hecks no. Do I know how to put most of it on? Nope. Is it time to get rid of most all of it? Ab. So. Lutely.
This will always be a winner in my facial book:
I have yet to find another mascara that works better than this one: Loreal's Voluminous mascara. Even the professional, Summer, who did my make-up for my sister's and my wedding used that kind of mascara. It's fab.
Aaaand I'm pretty sure I've had this baby since Freshman year of high school 10 YEARS AGO!!:
All this to say, it's time to move on.
A few years ago, my sister got me Bare Minerals face powder for Christmas or Birthday and I loved it! It was light and felt like I wasn't wearing any make-up at all. I loved it! But then I used it all up and have been way too cheap frugal to buy anymore.
So I suppose I need to make the investment and go buy me some Bare Minerals for my b-day this month.
A few weeks ago, when I visited Angela and Jon in Houston, I completely forgot my make-up, so I borrowed her's. She had Clinique eye shadow and I loved that stuff! It was so easy to put on and it stayed all day and it was subtle, yet pretty, and I loved how it felt....All this to say, I think I may just bite the bullet and buy me some "fancy" eye shadow.
All you fancy make-up wearing folks out there, what do you use? Comment on this blog or Facebook or email me and tell me what you use/recommend.
Back to work. Monday's are my day off/catch-up day. I've done about five loads of laundry, dusted our furniture, cleaned the kitchen, made the beds cleaned the bathrooms...and there's still more to go. Yuckum.
Love and hugs to you guys and happy Monday!

Girl, I totally understand the make-up situation. There are some sacrifices (economical or what have you) that we must make, but one thing I refuse to give up is my make-up. Not just my make-up, but my MAC makeup. I have used MAC since undergrad (yeah right, like I could afford that in highschool) and although it's a bit pricey, it is the best make-up hands down. It's light, it's distinguishable, and it lasts all day. I started with just the mascara, but now every piece of my make-up is MAC.
ReplyDeleteVisit their store online and see what you think: maccosmetics.com :)
Abby, if you guys have a Sallys Beauty Supply there, they have a mineral make up line I love.. I can't remember the name but it has a purple lid. Trust me, you'll know what I'm talking about when you see it. Anyway it's great and much cheaper than the bare minerals. Give it a try!
ReplyDeleteAbby!
ReplyDelete1. I also think L'oreal voluminous is the best in the world. recently I've also branched out to (practically the same thing)their voluminous- million lashes version. Because Stacy London is on the commercial.
2. Bare Minerals is wonderful. a few years ago I was also tying to be more "frugal," and bought the Neutrogena version at Wal- Mart. It lasted 3 weeks.. BAD DEAL (coincidentally, it looked just as nice) but usually Bare minerals lasts at a minimum 3 months for me. I also encourage you to try their bronzer (specifically, "a little sun"), and their blush. Their blush is super pigminted and really bright and scary looking, but you only use a tiny bit and it looks good.(favorite colors- "flowers" and "tulip")
3. No eyeshadow reccomendations here- I usually just use the extra lancome free gifts my mom has, and they work great(same company as clinique)
4. Splurge: Lancome "effacernes" waterproof concealer. worth every cent, and lasts forever.
5. Reverting to bare minerals: flawless radiance is the funnest thing in the world. also a stand- in for eyeshadow, and good for fancy nights out.(also, best part of bare minerals-- when, you're lazy, you can sleep in it because it's good for your skin)
6. Just wanted to let you know I love dropping in on your blog- makes me feel good to know that people are living normal lives while I'm still in school... :)
7. p.s.-kin of related- as a potential future dermatologist, I also like people to know they do not need to splurge on their skin care. my regimen consists of 2 things: a bar of cetaphil, and olay's plain jane bottle of SPF 15. :)
