I think only Erica and Lila B. and my family will appreciate this video...
But it's how I feel about our new home! I really do think I'm gonna like it here! Well. There. I'm actually in Memphis as I'm typing this, but I really enjoy Lafayette! So much! It's such a fun and friendly little city and Jamie and I already feel at home there.
I've enjoyed Memphis so much while we've lived here the past year, but there's something unique and inviting about Lafayette. I love it. So I feel like little Orphan Annie entering into Daddy Warbuck's mansion. All giddy and excited for something new and amazing.
Last week, I made another trip down to Lafayette to bring some more stuff to Jamie since he is officially living there until we close on our house. My mother-in-law, Kim, came down to help me as well. We both brought car loads which was fabulous because we were about to bring a TON!
She got to memphis on Thursday night and we completed our evening with pedicures and sushi:
Friday morning, we loaded up and headed out, getting to Lafayette around 2:45 ish. We took MANY a load up a flight of stairs and filled our new apartment with more stuff to make Jamie feel "at home".
After I showered and de-stunk myself, we headed to dinner at this great place called Blue Dog Cafe where we nommed on classic cajun cuisine such as crawfish étouffée and corn maque choux (with I think is pronounced maw-show?...). It was all delicious, so who cares how to say it?!
After we stuffed ourselves full of spicy fabulousness, we went to UL (University of Louisiana at Lafayette) to hopefully see a gator or two. And that's exactly what we saw...2 gators and lots of turtles!
Aren't we presh at the manmade swamp?:
By the way, Lulu has a new favorite spot:
She has never once paid any attention to this spot ever in her life, until we moved. Hmm. Anything for the Princess.
On Saturday, Kim and I were on a mission. A mission to find us a new dining set and/or barstools. We lucked on and killed two birds with one stone! We found a dining set that had barstools for chairs. Look at this beauty:
Bad picture, I realize...but it's beautiful! It is pretty big but the middle part can fold down so it seats four instead of six. We'll use four of the chairs at the table and the other two as barstools at the bar. How perfect is that?!? Kim and I are a good team. By the way, thank you Kim for the amazing housewarming gift :)
Jamie started off our shopping journey with us but then had to save the world...aka...kill the bad guys on his xbox.

Saturday evening, Jamie and I ate at this place within walking distance called WOW--World of Wings. Guess what? They have a TV at every table!! Love it! So, we enjoyed our dinner with Michael Scott and the rest of The Office gang:

Moving on.
Lulu also likes to run wild all the way down the hallway to our apartment. We live at the end of the hall and she/I think it's fun to see her prance all the way down to our room :)
She licks her daddy clean:
It's really kind of sick:
Exhausted and resting with her skunk and beaver toys in her bed:
Got my Fall stuff out this weekend, too! But I can't really get it out, because I have no where to put it. No tables. No shelves. No nothing. That'll have to wait till we move for good. But look at this super adorable potpourri:
I love the pun'kins and the ghost!
And these little guys are greeting us at the door:
I also discovered some melted Halloween candles:
I suppose that's what happens when you leave candles in the attic for almost a year. Whoops!
I'm really hoping we have a good trick or treat turn out this year. I missed Halloween last year if my faithful readers remember...that was crappy. Literally.
Monday night, I got ZERO sleep. Jamie, Leia and I have been sharing a twin bed and it is not ideal. Not ideal at all, I tell ya! So, I took a few more zzz's whenever Jamie woke up for work and he snapped this bit of sweetness:
Just me and Lulu bird. Snoozin' away.
My new favorite lunch:
Turkey sandwich, piled high with bread and butter pickles, turkey and lettuce with veggie chips (my new fav!) By the way, there's something special about bread and butter pickles. I used to think only Goldies had those kind of pickles at their pickle bar until like a year ago. Seriously.
Tuesday afternoon, I spent a few hours at the local laundromat so Jamie has plenty of clean work clothes since I won't be back to Lafayette until the 26th and the washer and dryer are with me. This place wasn't so bad:
But I do enjoy the luxury of having my own appliances.
Wednesday, I headed back to Memphis. We are getting a few minor repairs done to the house so I had to be home for that.
We got Leia Lu a Thunder Shirt to calm her travel anxiety. Usually she pants and whines and shakes almost the whole way to or from Memphis, Tulsa or Lafayette. It gets really old for both of us. I heard about the Thunder Shirt from a blog I read and she said it worked like a charm for her dog. And guess what? It worked for the wiener too!
I put this thing on her and she was frozen stiff:
Literally, she didn't move. If your dog has car anxiety, they won't anymore with the Thunder Shirt! I fully promote it!
But I made it home safely and tomorrow, I'm headed to Tulsa with my best friend Megan! Whoop whoop!
I don't think this video is going to work, but if it ends up working, it's hilarious! It's of Lulu in her Thunder Shirt, completely stoic!

Moving is such an exiting experience-even better when you enjoy it with your family! It sounds like you are going to do quite well in Lafayette...I mean, you have froyo outside your apartment so how bad can things get?! Good luck with finalizing all the house/moving hoopla! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! Love the table! Enjoy the journey :)
ReplyDeleteThat's great you sold your house! Table and chairs are a nice gift! We recently purchased that and dang, it's expensive! I love your thunder vest video! My bro in-law uses those to calm his dogs during storms. It really works!
