Thursday: Shoes, MIL, Utica

Thursday of last week was one of my favorite days at home in Tulsa. I had a date planned with two of my favorite Chi O's for several weeks and it was finally here! I needed some refreshing and familiar faces in my life and these girls fit the bill!

But let's back up.

I also had a lunch date with my precious mother-in-law, Kim that afternoon! We met at La Madeleine on Cherry Street (LOVE that little Bistro!).

Kim is the Queen of Gifting and she surprised me with these cute sandals that she found at the Shoe Gypsy:

It's a horrible picture and so doesn't do the shoe justice, but the sandals come separately from the straps. You can change out the straps and there are different ways to tie them up. I've already worn the orange ones a couple times, and they are so comfy! Thank you, Kim!

We enjoyed our lunch together and then headed to the mall. She had a few errands to run and so did I. We also made a trip to DSW (best shoe store ever!) and found a couple goodies. Loved seeing you, Kim! I love you so much and am so grateful you're my second mama!

I took a little snooze that afternoon, and then headed to Utica Square for Summers Fifth Night--a concert series they have each Thursday during the summertime. I cannot believe I have been a Tulsan for 25 years and have never been to Summers Fifth Night. It was so fun!!! I was meeting Karen and Hayley there at 6:00 but I got there around 5:00 to get a good parking spot and head to The Glass Slipper to check out their Toms selection.

Gosh, I'm obsessed. I've been on the hunt for red wedges, and I had no luck, BUT, I nabbed these suckers:

I am loving these shoes so very much! They're cute, comfy, go with anything, AND since I bought them, a little boy or girl in a third world country will get a pair of Toms as well :) Shopping for a cause...I love it.

So, as I was waiting for my friends to arrive, I found this tall creepy guy carrying around a big ol' turtle. And since I have a weird love for turtles, I stopped him and asked about the little guy. Big mistake. This creeper told me the turtle was some rare breed of tortoise from Africa and yada yada yada...weirdy. THEN, the turtle opened the flood gates of urine and peed all over this guy's crotch and continued to make this gooey puddle on the sidewalk!! In Utica Square nonetheless! I squealed and backed away and of course that's when Hayley walked up. I looked insane. Ridiculous.

Anyways, Hayley and I grabbed some Queenies for dinner and we just had the loveliest time catching up with each other! Karen showed up a little bit later and I was so happy with our happy little trio:

We just caught up like we had never skipped a beat. Hayley is about to celebrate her one year anniversary and Karen just had a precious baby boy (who I can't wait to meet!). It was fabulous catching up on each others lives and I am so grateful to have such sweet friends to come home to! I just love you ladies so very much and am so blessed you're in my life!

We stayed at Utica Square until a little after 10:00 and called it a night. Another fabulous day in T-Town, done.

Back to present day...

It's been pouring rain off and on in Lafayette all week, and I actually kind of like it. But you know who doesn't like the wetness? Princess Leia. Baby girl doesn't like getting her yittle paws wet. I kinda can't blame her. And she's sick of her time laying out on the balcony being interrupted by rain. Sorry, pup.

Jamie fell asleep on the couch around 7:30 when I was walking Leia (fuddy duddy), and I Leia and I are watching Pretty Little Liars. I have never seen this show, but they just added it to Netflix. So far, it's twisted, crazy, deceitful and so much more and I'm only on episode #2! Crazy girls!

I hope you all had a wonderful Friday and I hope you've got some relaxation in your future this weekend. I work all day Saturday, but I have Sunday and Monday off! Yay! Love y'all!
