Abby Appreciation Week

This is totally off subject, but look at this ad I saw in my Southern Living magazine yesterday. Isn't it weird?!

Anyway. I thought it was creepy.

Moving on.

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week at my school. I like to call it Abby Appreciation Week, because I like to think that I am individually appreciated :) Does that sound pompous? I don't think so. Everyone should feel appreciated! I know I work hard. I know I do my best to be a fantastic teacher. And I think hard work should be appreciated. Don't cha think?! Well. Here's how my week has gone.

First off. On Monday, we got a 15 minute massage at school during our break by a pro-fesh-un-al. Oooo buddy, it was glorious! I may have to start stopping at those massage chairs at the mall more often now. That was heavenly!

On Tuesday, we had lunch catered. We had fried chicken, baked beans, cole slaw and pie. No surprise there. Everyone voted on it...except me. I voted for Olive Garden and I would bet my bottom dollar that I was the only one who voted for that. Memphians understand why I would think that :) It was delicious and much appreciated though! Thanks, Parent Association!

Sidenote...

I gave myself a facial mask this morning. It was lovely and I felt so fresh and so clean clean afterwards.
It was a cheapo mask from Wally World, but it made me feel fancy :)

I digress.

Yesterday, we got a gift from the school. For those of you who don't know, my school is owned by a company who sells pharmaceutical products. I can get them for oober cheaper than at Walgreens or anywhere else. Well...our gift consisted of those pharmaceutical products.
Foot stuff and fiber. Who am I? An 80 year old woman with bowel problems and crackly feet? Come on, now! I got a good kick out of our "gift" that I could have got for free by myself, but whatever. It was funny. I have a friend who might want my MyraLAX, actually. So she'd really appreciate it :)

We also got 2 school shirts which I ordered about a month ago anyway. 2 shirts in 2 of the WORST colors ever! Baby blue and fuschia!

Blue...Yuck.
Fuschia...Yucker.
I sound like the whiniest little turd ever, but our "Teacher Appreciation Gifts" were a bit on the cheapo side. I was kind of hoping for a gift card for a pedicure. Or a potbellied pig (I want one so badly), but I guess a lame gift is better than no gift.

Today was the best though! A lot of the parents provided a brunch for us! Oooo mercy, it was delicious! I ate my body weight in brunch food consisting of fruit, donuts, sausage and egg casseroles, breads and more. Oooo glory, I should have worn my stretchy pants!! Brunch food is the best! Thanks, parents!

Tomorrow, we're supposed to receive a small gift or card from our chillins. That'll be sweet :) I look forward to that.

Joking aside, I think you should make sure everyone feels appreciated every single day! Saying a simple thank you goes such a long way. I have one momma of a boy in my class who, without fail, always always always says "thank you" when she picks him up from school. And she really means it. The sincerity in her voice is go genuine and greatly appreciated by me.

"Thank you's" go a very long way, my friends. Do you say it enough? Tell your waiter at restaurants "thank you" every time they do anything for you! They don't get thanked enough! Say it to your cashier at the grocery store. Lord knows they've probably had a long day of impoliteness. Thank your kids' teachers. Trust me. It means a lot. Thank you friends and families for being awesome! Remember, "thank you's" are important. Say it more often. :)

Remember this verse as well:

"I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy." Philippians 1:3-4

Love you guys. And I THANK YOU for all that you do and all that you are. Friends and family, I love you dearly and value your influence in my life! God bless and have a great night!
