Honestly, I've never been so happy that it's Friday in my life! (I may be over exaggerating by a teeninsy bit!) But really. And this calendar page was remarkably appropriate for this whole week!
I digress...
I was this happy that it was Friday today:
So happy that I dressed like a hippie! I'm practically glowing, I'm so thrilled it's almost the weekend!
Remember when I told you I was going to eat the giant Hershey Kiss? Well, that happened today, and it was glor-ee-osss!!! Here's how big this holy concoction was:
Impromptu Trip:
I have recently decided that I miss my parents way too much and I need to see their faces and hug their necks. They're the best parents in the world, by the way, so I'm driving my tail to Tulsa in the mo'nin'. Yes. I'm leaving in about 6.5 hours. Yipes! But anyway, I was packing this morning, and this little bundle of sadness knows that when bags come out, mama's leaving.
Look at her sad little hiney:
But guess what, Buttercup!?!?! You're comin' too!! Whoop whoop! Stoked to see mi familia and maybe see some friends, eat some sushi, go to a wedding, hear my dad teach Sunday School, get my tootsies done...all the good stuff! Can't wait! So Lulu and I are having a girls trip to T-Town bright and early! I'll hopefully update tomorrow if I'm not too busy!
Devotional:
In my devo today, I read Matthew 9:9-12 about Jesus inviting Matthew to eat with the tax collectors and sinners. When the Pharisees saw them, they where rather appalled and questioned their actions. Jesus responded, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick."
It's interesting that I just read that, because I was talking to my friends this evening about people in our lives who flat out need the Lord and His divine grace guidance, but are not ready to receive it. They're set in who they are. They're not open to change. And you know what? They probably think they're perfectly fine just the way they are! Just as doctors respond to those in critical conditions physically, Jesus responded to people who were in critical conditions spiritually. The text went on to say in my devo: Jesus cultivated relationships with people who were spiritually dying and in need of serious help. His radical lifestyle was marked by love, sacrifice, and reaching out to people who needed salvation.
This is how I took this devotional...Yes it is absolutely imperative to find a home church, a group of believers who will encourage you in your everyday life and your walk with the Lord. However, it is also important to reach out to the spiritually lost whether at school, work or in your neighborhood. Or heck...even in your own church! Trust me. There are many lost souls there! Many people have never experienced the love of God or the hope that only He can give. This struck a chord with me, because I like to be safe in my little comfort zone. My own little Christian bubble. I get uncomfortable if I need to witness to somebody. But that's a bunch of pucky! God died so that I may life, and by golly I better be livin' for Him! And if I'm not loving on my friends who do not know Him personally, than shame on me! That is my job as a believer in the One True God. I need to cultivate relationships with people who are spiritually dying or were never alive in the first place, just like Jesus did. I need to strive to be more and act more like Him every day. C'mon, Abby! Get your act together and get a life!
What are your thoughts? Do you feel the same way? Do you have friends or family you could reach out to as well? If not, start looking. They're out there.
Love you all. Hope your Friday was splendid!
