Ode to Mama

That's my mama, Lana Ervin.

She's the greatest mom in. the. world. I dare any of you to try to compete with me, because I'll win! For realz. I will. She's the best.

My mama is my best girlfriend and confidant (next to my beloved James, of course). The reason I want to talk about her today, as opposed to the obvious Mother's Day is because she has been there for me a lot recently. I've been a little down on myself, and my mama is ALWAYS there to pick up the pieces.

Here are some of the reasons that make my mama awesome:

• Back in the day when stupid boys (you are all stupid pigs at least once or twice or 100 times in your life) would hurt my feelings, my mom was there to be my cheerleader and tell me that boys are pigs and that my Prince Charming was out there somewhere so I just needed to be patient. She was right.
• I remember she bought me a brand new ipod after an ugly break up because she knew how much I self soothe through music. She was right.
• She took me to Dallas to hang out with my sister over Spring Break because none of my friends invited me to hang out with them for Spring Break. (Gosh, that makes me sound like a loser!) But I wouldn't have traded that time with Angela and my mom for the world!
• She gave me my dream wedding! (and planned every bit of it too) Thanks, mama!
• She sends me encouraging texts and e-mails every now and then just to tell me she loves me. That means so much to me, mama!
• She cries when I cry.
• She hurts when I hurt.
• She tells me things I don't want to hear when I really need to hear it.
• She's my gossip buddy. (Yes, I know gossip is bad, but when it's with your mama, it's different!!!...kind of).
• I remember one time in high school, a dumb meat wad boy hurt my feelers, and I went out and bought a King Size Nutrageous bar. She came upstairs, saw the wrapper and immediately knew something was wrong. Brilliant, I tell ya. Chocolate cures all!
• She loves on my goggie even though it means the cats will disown her until Leia's gone.
• She loves Jamie just like her own son. What a gift!
• She is so selfless that she took care of my Grandma and Grandpa until they went to be with Jesus.
• She puts EVERYONE before herself.
• She loves my daddy and honors and respects him. She and my dad are true examples of a Christlike marriage.
• She was at EVERY pom competition and show and everything! Just to be my cheerleader!
• She's the B-E-S-T BEST!

I could go on and on and on, but I don't want you all to get jealous of her utter awesomeness! I just wanted to brag on her, because she's been especially wonderful the past few days :) Thank you, mama. I love you so much!
