Cinnamon Rolls...Conquered:
I love cinnamon rolls. I'm not talking about the nasty, bready, flaky cinnamon rolls with a teaspoon of icing on it. I'm not talking about the store bought, packaged cinnamon rolls. My favorite cinnamon rolls are the ooey gooey, messy, sugary, icing-y cinnamon rolls. Like the Cinnabon ones or even Grands! Gosh, those are good! But I've always wanted to attempt to make them myself, but yeast scares me. I've never tried using it, but I have a curse in my family. We're not very good with yeast. But. Guess what? I conquered Pioneer Woman's cinnamon rolls! Whoop whoop! Sunday was our breakfast day in Sunday school, and I made myself write down that I'd bring cinnamon rolls. Well. I said a few prayers on Saturday night while I made the dough. And I prayed harder on Sunday morning when I woke up at 6:30 to bake them. Guess what?! They worked! They were delicious! They were devoured! We only had 5 left to bring home out of 36! Heck yes! All this to say...everyone MUST make these before February is over! Just go do it. They're so delicious!
Word of the Year:
Every morning, I listen to K-Love, a Christian music radio station, on the way to school. It is my 25 minutes of the day that I find very calming and encouraging when I really don't want to go to work. I love it. For 2011, the DJ's have all chosen one word for themselves and one word for each of their family members to pray over all year. For example, one of the DJ's chose the word "redeemed" for herself to pray over, because she needs to constantly remind herself that she is a child of God who has been saved and redeemed through Christ. Another one chose the word "encourage" for his son, because he said his son needs to be encouraged quite often to get through the big and small things in life.
I thought that was an excellent idea, so I chose a word for myself. I am praying the word "confidence" for my life. I have battled with self confidence for as long as I can remember. I was never thin enough. I was never smart enough. I was never cool enough. But that's all a bunch of pooky, because I am blessed and redeemed in Christ, and He made me in His perfect image. I need to realize that and love it :) So. I have started praying for confidence in every area of my life, asking that the Lord gives me a little bit of confidence in who I am. I believe that if I pray for specific things, I'll start to see an outcome.
I encourage you to do the same thing! Choose a word that you want to pray over for your life! You'll see results. I promise :)
Well, my friends. I'm off to play with pre-k! Wish me luck! I hope and pray you have a loverly day! Oklahoma friends and family...STAY WARM AND SAFE IN THIS BLIZZARD! Thinking of you! Love you all!
