So....it's about that time to say goodbye to Christmas 2010. December 26th is the most depressing day of the year because that means Christmas is over. No more shopping. No more feasts. No more family time. No more cookie exchanges. No more time off. I usually sink into a part time depression after Christmas because that means Fall is over. Thanksgiving is over. Christmas is over. The next holiday to REALLY look forward to is the 4th of July! So...here is my final Christmas-related post. And I am going to tell a few Christmas/Santa jokes and give ya a few facts as well. I got these from my iphone application :) I'm such a nerd. Here ya go! Woo hoo!
Jokes:
- What do you get if you cross Father Christmas with a duck?------A CHRISTMAS QUACKER (yeah I don't really get that one too well...)
- What do elves learn in school?------THE ELF-ABET!!!
- Why does Santa have 3 gardens?------SO HE CAN HOE HOE HOE!!! (I like that one)
- Why was Santa's little helper depressed?------HE HAD LOW ELF ESTEEM!! (Bahahahaha!)
- What do you get when you cross a snowman with a vampire?------FROSTBITE!
- What did the snowman order at McDonalds?------AN ICEBURGER (What? Lame.)
- How does Rudolph know when Christmas is coming?------HE LOOKS AT HIS CALEN-DEER!
- If athletes get athlete's foot, what do else get?------MISTLE-TOES!
- What do monkeys sing at Christmas?------JUNGLE BELLS, JUNGLE BELLS! (That's my favorite!)
- What sort of mobile phone has Santa got?------AN IPHO-HO-HONE!
Facts:
- Santa has 31 hours to deliver his present, thanks to the different time zones and the rotation of the earth.
- The abbreviation of Christmas to Xmas partially comes from the Greek letter 'chi', the first letter of the word 'Cristos'.
- The first United States President, Franklin Pierce, was the first in 1856 to decorate a Christmas tree in the White House.
- Bing Crosby's Christmas classic "White Christmas" is the best-selling Christmas song of all time.
- The tradition of hanging stockings by the fireplace came from Dutch children placing their shoes next to the fireplace. Stockings later replaced the shoes.
- Alabama was the first state in America to proclaim Christmas day as a legal holiday in 1836. Oklahoma was the last state in 1907.
- Until the turkey, a goose was the most popular fare served at a Christmas meal.
That's all good stuff huh? Now, you're ready to tell jokes and rattle off Christmas facts next holiday season :) Get excited!
