This day was truly depressing. Jamie and I both woke up a bit somber because we knew we were about to leave London in a matter of hours. I got dressed and ready for the day and headed downstairs to have my final English breakfast, with hot tea and all. The hot tea was one of my favorite parts about London. So delicious!
After breakfast, we headed out to explore for a few hours before our flight.
We cruised through the park, hand in hand, soaking up our last morning in glorious London.
I will say that one of the best parts about this trip was that Jamie and I got to be romantic and hold hands and linger at meals and just be a married couple. We missed Lucy terribly, but it was so rewarding to just be alone together for a week.
Thankfully our last day was absolutely beautiful!
We headed to Buckingham Palace because that was on my list of things to see while we were in London. Duh.
Although I was not too into the Royal wedding a few years ago, seeing this gorgeous palace is a definite must while in London!
It was just beautiful. Absolutely gorgeous!
And giant, might I add. So huge!
I was hoping to see the changing of the guard, but they didn't do it that morning. We'll just have to catch it next time.
We were also hoping to lay our eyes on baby George as I am his potential future mother-in-law. Right?
We walked around the royal palace for a few minutes, did a little knick knack shopping and then continued to walk around the city.
Most of these pictures are just things I thought were pretty. Like I've said before, I am no travel guide at all. I don't know much history, but I just whip out my camera and click without thinking. So I could be taking pictures of an abandoned building or a palatial home...I'm not sure. All this to say, these next few pictures are my clicks of the camera :)
I think my dad would be proud of this next one. It just looks artsy and stuff:
Well hi there, handsome!
Big Ben in the day time was even more giant and beautiful!
I believe these next few pictures are of Westminster Abbey:
I'm telling you, Jamie and I got a lot of sightseeing done in a short amount of time. We even grabbed a Mars Bar and a Diet Coke for a snack since we were feeling snacky :)
Unfortunately, we were leaving London on a beautiful day! The other days we were in London, it was nice, but not this sunny and beautiful. It just means that we'll have to come back!
Short Abby next to tall Abbey:
Not sure if this is a pond or what body of water it is, but it was so quaint with all the ducks. So lovely:
Jamie tried to quickly get a picture of me with the horses and carriage:
This was our final picture in London before we had to catch a train to the airport. It was bittersweet and I cried ugly tears in the park. Sad that our vacation was ending. But giddy to see my Lucy girl again. Oh how I missed her!
Back on the plane:
I think riding in first class was a good way to head back home after an exhausting yet flawless trip. Thank you Marty and Kim for that unbelievably fabulous gift. What a treat!:
We made it to Houston around 10:00 in the evening, I think. At that point, I was on American soil and just a 4 hour drive away from my sweet baby! I was pretty much running through the airport to get through customs, get our bags, get in our car and get home!!
We finally made it home and I all but ran into Lucy's room. Our plan was not to wake her up but to go in there and gaze at her. She ended up waking up and I was a-okay with that. I swooped her up into my arms and just held her. Smelled her. Kissed her. Hugged her. And cried. So happy to be reunited with my little love.
Jamie and I bought her a little stuffed animal from Disneyland--Copper from The Fox and the Hound. And she LOVES him! So so much!
The next morning, I was ready to really love on my baby girl. Good morning, sweet Lucy!
Mommy and Daddy missed you!
Overall, Jamie and I had a phenomenal trip. Absolute perfection. So thankful to get to travel with my best friend and see such grand parts of the world. I love that man and I love spending one on one time together. So special. Until next time, my love!!
