When Jamie and I were dating, he found out that I've had this dream to get engaged at Disneyworld, so when he proposed to me, he had "Tale as Old as Time" playing in the background and bought a beautiful Disney snow globe to get me as close to Disney as possible. Well played, James. You know me so well :) So when we got married, he promised me that he'd take me to every Disney park during our married years. Which made the decision on where we'd go when we went to Europe!
Disneyland Paris!!
Some people thought we were beyond crazy for going to a Disney park while in one of the most romantic cities in the world, but since we had both spent a lot of time in the actual city of Paris, we fully embraced the fun that Disneyland Paris had to offer!
We left London in the morning and got on the Eurostar to head to Paris. This is a fabulous train that travels under the English Channel. Much easier than getting on a plane and it was quite cozy as well. And it was only a 2 hour and 15 minute ride. Not bad at all!
The really great part about riding the train was that it had a train station that was right on Disney property. So we were able to get off the train, walk to our hotel and then just walk to the Disney parks. Perfection!
Unfortunately, we had a wildly ill-behaving group of children sitting in front of us, so this is how Jamie felt about our train ride thus far:
Less than thrilled.
And he always loves treating me like the paparazzi!
And I was STOKED to be heading to Disney! So excited!
I'm such a little kid!
And I had my trusty Kindle with me...
I reread The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, because I wanted to see the second movie when I got home from Europe.
Speaking of the ill-behaved children, one of them was named George, and on our trip, we actually saw lots of poorly behaved little boys named George. All this to say, there probably won't be any Georgie Schoenthalers in our future.
When we got to Paris, we walked to our hotel where I gleefully observed the Disneyland map:
We stayed at the gorgeous Disneyland Hotel and it was by far the nicest hotel we have ever stayed at. It was beautiful and romantic and decorated in Christmas beauty. Oh I just loved it!
Once we got settled in our hotel, we walked to the Magic Kingdom. Walked, I say. We didn't have to ride on any transportation at all while we were at Disneyland. It was perfect!
Is there anything better than a Disney Christmas tree?
Our first ride was Space Mountain which we called "Space Jam" the whole time:
We were in the second row in that picture. So so fun! It was a great way to start off our trip.
Ride number two was the Star Wars ride, which was Jamie's favorite. We headed to dinner shortly after we rode a few rides and just took in the whole Disney feel.
This castle was beautiful!
So majestic at night.
This one was Sleeping Beauty's castle:
We headed back into the park after eating a rode a few rides.
The Snow White ride (Blanche-Neige et les Sept Nains):
By the way, did I mention everything is in French? Which made the park that much more charming!
The Pinocchio ride (Les Voyages de Pinocchio):
Pirates of the Caribbean:
We rode that sucker over and over again. The beautiful thing about Disneyland Paris in the winter is that it's cold cold cold. So there were hardly any waits for any ride! Quite different than what I was used to at Disney World.
Hi, cutie pie:
Then we did a little jaunt on the Swiss Family Robinson tree house:
Observing the castle from afar:
And who can forget the Phantom Manor?
That was another one we rode quite a few times. Yet again, the songs and talking were all in French. I'm so familiar with the English one, so it was actually really fun to hear it in another language. Beautiful even.
There was a little Nightmare Before Christmas photo-op which I of course took advantage of:
Main Street Disneyland:
After a long day of traveling and playing, we headed back to the hotel for a sweet night's sleep.
We had a long and very fun day ahead of us! Already was loving me some Disneyland Paris!!
