Girls Trip Continued--a Day in Lafayette

Day 2 in Louisiana started off fabulously...we got pedicures.

Praise Jesus for pedicures.

I go to this really fancy and new place across the street from where I live, and they always do a fabulous job. The girls that work there are hilarious and fun and the chairs are great and the music is simply fabulous! They joke around saying that they have the "Pandora Love" station playing and that it sometimes makes girls cry. But we were enjoying the variety of Celine Dion, 98 Degrees, N*SYNC, KC and Jojo and more. It was like a 90s classic love mix. So good. The four of us were jamming the whole time we were there.

Karen, Me, Kendall, Lindsay and I enjoying getting pampered:

If any of you know me, you know I love a good pedicure. I've started getting them about once every 4-6 weeks, because it is like an hour out of my month where nothing can go wrong and I am happy and content. Love.

After we got our tootsies painted, we ate at a fabulous tourist trap in Lafayette called Prejeans:

It's right off of the Interstate and always delicious. Here you'll get your typical gumbo, alligator bites, boudin balls, stuffed seafood, bread pudding and all of the other Cajun classics. We usually take friends and family here when we have visitors, because it's always a big hit.

We nommed on alligator bites, crawfish enchiladas, gumbo, friend green tomatoes and more. So stinkin' tasty! And we left full. Very full.

Karen and Kendall outside of Prejean's:

Once we left lunch, we headed to the University of Louisiana Lafayette to look at the swamp that is in the middle of the campus. It's UL's version of Theta Pond for all you Cowboys out there. Except instead of swans, there are alligators in this swamp! Freaky! We've taken all of our visitors here and yet again, it never fails to entertain!

Kendall, Me, Karen and Lindsay on campus:

I love these ladies with all my heart and soul:

Once we got to the swamp, we had a competition going to see who could spot the first gator and I won!!

Look at this guy:

My zoom wasn't on in that picture...that's truly how close he was!

And check out this balancing act he's got going on with the plant thing on his nose:

They thought it was a fake for a while, but were soon convinced that he was indeed real.

Oh, and might I mention that this creeper man came up and tried to do a gator call to this alligator. No joke, he thought he was the stinkin' alligator whisperer! Really funny. Really odd.

My Big and I posing with the alligator in the background:

Wifey posing, trying not to fall in:

We kind of drew in a crowd because of how giddy we were acting. Hey, it's not everyday that you see an alligator that up close! Especially when you live in Oklahoma and Arkansas!

So glad we found a gator, my dears:

We walked around the swamp, hoping to find more alligators, but had no luck. But we did get this cute picture taken, thanks to some lovely tourists:

Definite framer:

Once we left campus, we went shopping! What girls do best, right? The girls got some local Louisiana gear, t-shirts, jewelry and decorative items. A successful shopping day, for sure!

But after a while, it was time to come home and relax. We were all pretty exhausted, and wanted to cozy up on the couch with dinner and a movie. I had an Italian pot roast cooking in the crock pot, hash brown casserole in the oven and an Italian salad calling our names, ready to eat for dinner. We also enjoyed Nieman Marcus Bars while watching The Santa Clause. Overall, I'd say it was a spectacular evening.

Oh, and might I mention that my friends thoroughly enjoyed going through our Sweet Pea's room, rummaging through her things.

Lindsay wants to take the Boppy on her next flight with her as an airplane pillow:

I think that'd probably have to count as your carry-on.

Karen was playing hairdresser with Lindsay, trying to braid:

It's just what girls do.

Kendall and I spotted Lindsay as she bravely got on the step ladder to get our plates from the top of the cabinet:

Safety first!

Getting ready for dinner:

Italian drip beef, Italian salad, hash brown casserole:

Yum. yum.

And these, yet again, are stolen Instagram pictures from Karen.

The UL campus pictures:

Karen, the picture of you with the tree kills me! You're too cute!

Me and my sweet friend:

After our movie, the girls headed back to the hotel, and I was already mourning their departure the next morning. Lindsay had to leave early on Sunday to get back home for a church event, but Karen, Kendall and I enjoyed breakfast at Another Broken Egg before I took them to the airport. Thankfully there were zero plane issues on this flight! Praise Jesus!

My sweet friends, there are not enough words to convey my sincerest gratitude for you three taking the time and effort to come visit me. I so desperately needed that fun girl time, and it was the perfect last hoorah before my Sweet Pea arrives in a couple months.

We have decided to make this trip an annual thing, so next year, who knows where we'll go?! Regardless of where we end up, we know we'll have a ball!

I love you three to pieces and hope to see you in the near future! Next time you'll see me in person, I'll be a mommy! Crazy! Love you!

And I love my readers as well! Thanks for stopping by!
