Once upon a time, I was a blogger. I didn't blog each and every day, but I certainly didn't wait 4 whole months in between posts. So sorry, readers...all 12 of you.
I'll try to recap my life this week before more fun things start happening. That's probably the reason I've been such a crummy blogger is because I've had quite a bit going on. Imagine that!!
But let's back up four months ago. My babe turned 1!!!! ONE!!!!
We planned a super easy, chill day at home and it was delightful.
On February 12th, we put our little girl down for the last time before she woke up as a one year old.
Good morning, big girl!!
We had a fun day planned! We picked up Kiki that morning and met Daddy for a lunch date.
That afternoon, we opened a few gifts.
She got some books, clothes, shape toys, and Daddy got her a bunch of Disney Princess little people toys. She loves them.
We also spent a good portion of our day playing at the park. Swinging and sliding is her new favorite.
Nap time and more gifts. What more can a one year old want?
That evening, Jamie and I went to Borders for dinner and ice cream. It was this kid very first time to eat ice cream, and I'd say she liked it quite a bit!
She's our ice cream loving baby!
The next day, Kim and I drove to Lafayette because we were having an "I Love Lucy" party at my parents' house in Tulsa. We had a pretty fantastic turn out and it was yet another reminder of how loved my sweet girl is.
Jamie and Papa having a manly conversation, I'm sure.
"I Love Lucy" cake:
In the midst of Lucy opening up gifts, she discovered my baby doll bassinet That I played with as a little girl.
Even my Grandma Betty was able to come celebrate Lucy girl.
This is one of the last bottles Lucy drank before dropping it cold turkey.
Speaking of bottles, life is just easier without cleaning those bad boys several times a day! Can I get an "amen", Mamas?!
My Bigity Big Face came to party. Ain't no party without my Big there!!
Some of my very bests--Kendall, Megan and Stacy:
Me and my sweetheart:
Megan was babysitting a precious little boy and I wanted to kidnap him. He was the most precious thing I had ever laid eyes on!
Chief loves his Lucy girl:
So does Aunt Camie:
Oh Lucy...you are quite the star of the show.
She sure does love her Nana Lana:
Time for presents!!
As expected, Lucy was more excited about the wrapping paper.
This was probably the best part of the day...Lucy got up and looked as though she was about to walk. As in, take her very first steps. My dad made a piece of wrapping paper into a cape and he found that to be the perfect opportunity to put the cape on my almost-walker! We were all yelling at him to stop before he started and there he goes....stopping the potential walking. You had to be there to witness the hilarity!
No worries though...my little girl is a grand walker now!
Jamie, Kirby and Papa---that's a trio of trouble!
This birthday girl is exhausted from being cute and celebrated!
She loves her Uncle Kirby:
I love my precious family:
Uncle Spencer and Aunt Camie and sleepy Lucy:
Love my bestie. Thanks for always being there to love on my sweet girl!
Sweet Molly:
Two of my traveling buddies--Kendall and Karen:
Is there anything better than girl talk while sitting on the floor with babies? No. Nothing.
Okay, a snoozing baby might be better...
And a snoozing baby on her birthday, sleeping on her mama's shoulder is even better!
Uncle Jon and Aunt Angela at Sunday lunch:
Speaking of Aunt Angela....she's going to be a mommy to a baby girl in September!! I can't wait to have a sweet little niece!!
The following week in Tulsa, we did professional pictures at my parents' studio.
Lucy is probably the most photographed one year old in the history of time.
The cake smash was a delightfully perfect success!
Happy Birthday, sweet Lucy girl!
