Moving to Youngsville

When we moved to Lafayette almost 3 years ago, we thought we'd live here 2 years tops. We lived in Stillwater less than a year. We lived in Memphis just a little over a year. And we thought it'd be the same way with Lafayette.

Wrong.

Since we didn't think we'd be living here very long, we went the apartment route and were excited about it. Now that I don't live there anymore, I can say that we lived in River Ranch. It was a very nice area with security, shopping, restaurants, gorgeous neighborhood...it was just a really nice area and we loved it. Then we had a kid.

And we still had a dog.

And we lived on the 2nd floor.

And Jamie started traveling quite a bit.

Come January, I was D.O.N.E. with apartment living. It was a season that I loved but I felt as though the season was coming to a much needed end.

Jamie was gone for a week straight in January, and every single day that week it rained. No, not just a little mist here and there. But we're talking sideways Louisiana rain. Ridiculous. Remember how I have the kid and dog I have to take potty every day? So each day that it rained, I had to either carry Lucy (too big for the baby Bjorn) or put her in a stroller, leash Leia up and take her down to the dog park 3-4 times a day. One night, I was taking Leia potty and Lucy was in the stroller and we are getting SOPPING wet with rain. Leia's leash got wrapped around the stroller wheel and we couldn't move. I'm crying of pure frustration at this point. And then we get to the grassy area for Leia to do her business, and she refuses. Princess didn't want to get her princess paws wet.

Still sobbing at this point.

Leia goes potty. I get Lucy upstairs and cleaned up and dried off and I put her to bed. I call Jamie crying, letting him know that our lease is up in April and that he is free to live there come May, but I'm outa here!!!

I rarely get worked up like that, but I think Jamie got the picture loud and clear.

We moved April 2nd!

The week before we moved, we had new neighbors move in right next door to us, so I grabbed every single one of their boxes. Win win!

But that's how we lived for a full week. Not winning.

Poor Lucy had to find fun out of playing in the dish washer while there were boxes everywhere.

She loved it!

We ate with boxes too.

I'm not kidding. Our apartment was rilled to the brim with boxes!!!

It's exhausting, Lucy. I know.

Thankfully, I have the best mother in law in the whole wide world who has packed and moved houses more than most families, and she was ready and willing to help me pack, move, unpack, and help watch Lucy during all the madness!

Last night at our River Ranch home:

Final bedtime reading before moving:

Long story short, moving day was a bit of a cluster. Our movers were about two hours late. Bad start, boys. They were lazy, inappropriate, a bit rude and very slow. They were getting paid by the hour and were taking their precious, PRECIOUS time.

All the while, Kim and I were just trying to keep Lucy happy and stay out of the way.

This is how she ate for a while, by the way.

Keeping it classy in the Schoenthaler home!

The movers ended up taking over NINE HOURS to move a 2 bedroom apartment into a 3 bedroom house that was only 10 minutes away. NINE HOURS!!! And then, they had the audacity to ask for a tip! And THEN we found out a few days later that they stole our iPhone. Those morons took pictures with the phone and it, of course, linked up to our photo stream. Brilliant, I tell you.

Let me mention that one of our movers just got out of prison and offered up that information to Kim, so I was thrilled he knew where our family lives and that I have a little one. Fantastic.

Moving is a mess anyway, but this was just ridiculous. I was so thankful to have Kim there helping me while Jamie was at work. She was and is a total godsend! Love you, Kim!

Lucy loved the move-in process. Stuff was everywhere, and she especially loved having the mirror at her level.

She thought she was hot stuff :)

So all this to say, we now live in a lovely house in Youngsville, LA and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! We have a yard and bedroom for Lucy and an office for Jamie! Praise! That was all I wanted. First world problems, I know, but gosh it's nice to have just a little extra room for my busy baby.

Since we've moved, we've had a lot of fun!

Here are a few pictures of what's been going on here...

Kiki took Lucy to go shopping for outdoor fun stuff:

She also took her to Chucky Cheese for the first time!

Loving her new picnic table:

We found a turtle:

She dressed up in a crawfish outfit and ran around the yard:

Hallelujah!

Lots of daddy/daughter chats

Playing in the grass, looking cute in sun hats:

This wasn't taken at home, but it was too cute not to share:

She found that chair at Hobby Lobby and decided it needed to be sat in. Too cute!

Naked reading in Mardi Gras beads:

Sitting in her rock garden:

Swinging:

Running free:

Riding dirty:

More picnic tabling:

Back to the dish washer...

Back to the picnic table...

New toddler car seat:

When did my baby become a toddler?

And more outdoors time in our new home:

I'm telling you....this kid is outside ALL. THE. TIME. She now has a slide, a baby pool, a playhouse and more outside. I should buy stock in baby sunscreen because I am buying it a lot!! We love our house. We love our yard. We love the extra room. We are so thankful to be out of the apartment. Praise the Lord!!

Thanks for following!

Love you guys!
