It's happening! Our trip has finally arrived, and we are almost on our way to Europe! Jamie asked me several months ago if I want to go to Europe with just the two of us as a "thank you" for being patient with him throughout his grad school. So for him, he's thanking me. But for me, this is a trip celebrating him and his grad school accomplishments!
At the sheer thought of leaving my child to go on a trip overseas, I bawled! Big boo hoo! That's the problem of being a stay at home mom. You get attached to your baby and it's hard to leave. Very very hard. But we made the decision to go and enjoy ourselves. Just the two of us.
Kim got to Lafayette yesterday afternoon and she and Marty will watch Lucy for the first half of our trip. Then my parents will watch her the second half. It's been a long week preparing to leave. Leaving your dog with someone is a lot different than leaving your child! It's a whole new ball game!
So now, I'm sitting in the British Airways lounge in Houston, waiting for our flight. I only cried for about 15 minutes after saying goodbye to Lucy, but I know Jamie and I will have a marvelous time!
I'll actually have some truly great writing material when I return from our European vacation! Maybe you'll see a little more of me on A Deeper Life :)
