Making My Visits Count

Since I no longer live near family or close friends, whenever I do go home, I need to make my visits count. Meaning, I stay a while. I stay around a week and see as many people as I can! It's actually an unbelievable blessing to have too many people to see that I actually run out of time and don't get to see everyone. So, for those of you who I want to see but can't, you are wildly loved and I hope to catch you on the next visit :)

So let's back up to the beginning of August when I made my last Tulsa visit.

Kim, my mother-in-law, drove all the way down to Lafayette from Decatur, IL just to drive to Tulsa with me, Lucy and Leia. We drove half-way and stopped in Texarkana (I don't remember if we were on the Texas or Arkansas side). As we were nearing the hotel where we were supposed to stay at, my GPS went nuts and we were unbelievably lost. Keep in mind that Lucy was screaming her head off and Kim was trying every trick in the book to make her happy. Long story short, we get to our hotel after being lost for an extra half hour. No dogs allowed. We drove to their sister hotel where dogs are allowed. Lucy still screaming. Got lost driving to the new hotel. Lucy still screaming. 15 minutes later, we find said hotel. Lucy still screaming. Dog welcome. Kim and I exhausted. Lucy happy to be out of the car. Lord have mercy...that last hour and a half was terrible.

Oh. And Lucy slept in a crib in the bathroom:

This mom right here gets mom of the year award!

Ya know, you gotta do what you gotta do!

We made a quick stop in Arkansas to visit Kim's best friend and Meme and then I finally made it to Tulsa. What a beautiful thing to be out of the car and relaxing! Glory to God in the highest! And thank you, Kim, for the company!

My weekend home included family visits, yummy dinners with friends, a trip to OSU Bid Day (new blog post), walks in my parents' hilly neighborhood, church and more!

One evening, my family came over and we all had some huge laughs:

I know it's cliche to say, but I am so seriously blessed to have such a spectacular family. We love getting together and often spend hours around the table just story telling, laughing, and sharing life together. We're all so different in such great ways, and I can't say it enough how much I love these people!! Poor cousin Jay...you're holding strong in a sea of women!

Friday evening, Lindsay drove in town to spend the night, because we were all heading to Stillwater for Bid Day on Saturday. So she and Kendall came over before Megan and I headed to dinner.

I love how my friends from different walks of life all get along:

No gathering is complete without a "fun picture":

Lucy has no idea what she's gotten herself into by having a mom like me and friends of her mamas...bless you, child.

Megan and I had a yummy dinner at Cheesecake Factory, split a S'More's cheesecake and a Philly cheesesteak and then walked the mall for a bit. We even got hit on by a young whipper snapper who obviously didn't notice the bling on our married ring fingers. Maybe I should have lifted up my shirt to show him the sagging skin that I have left over from being pregnant. Try hitting on us again, creeper!

We still got it, Megan!

Saturday, Karen, Lindsay, Kendall and I were in Stillwater all day for OSU Bid Day...new blog post to come later. But I will say that it was an unbelievably fun and hilarious day! I can't wait to share that experience with you!

That evening, my parents and I went to Mahogany Prime Steakhouse for their anniversary. Delicious as always!

Sunday, we made it to church and had a delightful lunch at The Bistro--one of my Tulsa favorites.

Then we did a little photo session outside, on the back porch.

I love my crazy little monkey:

Nana Lana loved giving sweet Lucy her nighttime bottle every night:

Sweet and sleepy nighttime cuddles:

All weekend, my mom and I did a good, long walk in the neighborhood each morning before our day got going:

Lucy napped :)

She also had a good time being a crazy lady in her walker:

And happing in the sink:

And creeper Bubsy stalked her while she got clean:

That darn cat.

That nosey cat also sniffed and played on every "Lucy item" I brought home:

As always, it was a stellar weekend at home with my family and friends. We missed Jamie so very much, as we always do when we're not with him, but it was so great catching up with those that I love so dearly.

Until next time, Tulsa!

Love you guys!
