Surprise Decatur Visit June 2013

Y'all. This blog post is so old. I mean. Like almost three months old. So let's back up a few months, shall we?

My mother-in-law had a birthday in June and she is always so great at celebrating all the kids' birthdays, so we decided that it was time to celebrate her birthday big! So we all planned to surprise her up in Decatur for her birthday. And guess what? We pulled the surprise off! Woo hoo!

Jamie and I left around 10:00 PM after he got out of class and we drove all night to Decatur. That. Was. Miserable. The only good thing is that Lucy was asleep most of the time. Dark, moving car=Sleepy baby. I slept off and on, but poor Jamie drove the whole way. We were two exhausted parents! But we made it!

We got to Decatur around 10:00 in the morning on a Friday. Kirby met us outside and he walked us in the house where Marty, Kim and Camie were already waiting. We handed Lucy girl to Uncle Kirby and he walked in and surprised Kim. Surprise!!!

Great success!!

We spent the whole day catching up, fishing (they live on a beautiful lake!), cooking, grilling, napping (hallelujah!), strolling, and just relaxing, enjoying each others' company.

Friday night, we grilled burgers and brats, and enjoyed a variety of delicious sides. For dessert, Camie was thoughtful enough to order several different flavors of ice cream from Sprinkles. God bless you, Camie. That stuff was delicious :)

Oh hey there, Uncle Kirby!:

Saturday, the girls shopped at a fabulous outlet mall while the boys went to a place similar to Dave and Busters--I think :/  Saturday night, we ate a delicious steak and seafood restaurant called The Beach House. We celebrated Kim and her fun birthday, and we celebrated all of us together!

Daddy and Lucy at dinner:

Uncle Kirby and Lucy girl:

We need to teach that little diva how to look at the camera!

Kiki, Chief and Lucy:

Happy birthday, Kiki! We love you!

Our waitress thought it was Lucy's birthday, so according to them, we celebrated Lucy girl's monthly b-day:

My sweet Schoenthaler family:

Aunt Camie and crazy Lucy doll:

The "kids" and grandkid after dinner at the Beach House:

Camie also ordered a super yummy ice cream cake from Baskin Robins for us to enjoy Saturday night:

Lucy, no cookies or ice cream cake for you!

Hey there, you tongue-sitcker-outer:

You guys, I cannot express to you how gorgeous the weather was in Decatur. I think I hurt Jamie's feelers because when we got home from Illinois, I told him that I hated Lafayette. Whoops. What I meant was that I despise the humidity in Lafayette! It's just swampy here, and there was zero humidity in Decatur. It was glorious! We ate meals outside. We hung out down by the dock. I didn't have to shower every night from sweating during the day. It was delightful.

So Saturday night, the boys fished down by the dock and were fairly successful:

While the girls ate ice cream cake:

Lucy must have been telling jokes because ya'll were laughing at her:

Sunday was a relaxing day, but a sad one as well, because we had to say "goodbye" to Chief. He was headed to Europe on business, so he had to get in a few snuggles before he left:

Lucy loves you, Chief!

We kind of lounged around all morning, and then Kirby had the fun idea to go bowling!

Lucy was a bit of a fuddy duddy at first:

She'll learn to wake up when it's time to have fun!

Kim was the first to send her ball down the lane:

We ordered pizza and sprite to enjoy while we bowled.

Go, Camie, go!

Uncle Kirby's turn:

Yay, Jamie:

 Me and my cute hubby:

We realized that we had never gone bowling together. We had a ball, so we'll definitely need to go back with Lucy sometime.

Daddy and Lucy doll:

Our sweet little family of 3:

I love these two so much:

Me and my little love:

On one of our shopping ventures, Kiki got Lucy girl a walker, and this girl loves her new toy!

A couple months ago when she got this thing, we had to put a pillow under her feet so that she could touch.

But now she's walking all over the place!

Can't forget the Leia Lu!

Lucy girl also got herself a new Jeep stroller:

That baby is no all-terrain vehicle, but it is a little more practical than the jogging stroller when out and about.

Kiki whipped out Jamie, Kirby and Camie's toys for Lucy to play with:

I'd say she was fairly entertained all week :)

My little swaddle baby who no longer needs to be swaddled:

Mean muggin' while she sleeps:

Out of order picture from the bowling alley:

The view from Marty and Kim's back porch:

Gorgeous, right?

Later in the week, it was just me and Kim. Camie went back to B-Ville, Kirby headed back to school, Jamie had work in Denver, Marty was in Europe, so that left me, Kim, Lucy and Leia to do as we please! So we went to the Decatur Zoo!

Sloths:

Always boring but precious.

Turtles:

My favorite.

But these guys were...

...how do you say?

...aggressive?

I mean, really. The guy on top was out of control!

I love my girl and her new popsicle dress:

Hey there, little raccoon baby!

Me and the pervy turtles:

No sleeping for this baby after the zoo!!!

Wide awake and happy as a clam!

Raining morning play time in puddles:

Those little tootsies had never touched rain before! I love all of her new experiences!

Leia Lu, snoozing in some warm towels:

Girlfriend! You showing off some leg!

Later in the week, Kim and I made the trek back down to Lafayette. We made a pit stop in Memphis to break up the 13 hour drive, which was really nice!

This little one slept most of the way:

But did a little of this action as well:

Whoever invented the bumbo is brilliant:

Thanks, Aunt Camie! I love my new dress!!!

The see me strollin'....

Leia needs a spot on the jogger:

Anyways, it was a fabulous week at the Schoenthaler home and I hope to visit again soon! Happy belated birthday, Kim! We love you so much and I am so glad we all got to celebrate together!

Love you guys!
