Celebrating 6 Months!

Happy half year, Lucy girl!!!

Oh sweet angel, you have been an utter joy in our lives the past 6 months, and I cannot believe how much you have stolen our hearts! Your daddio and I love you incredibly and are so proud to be your mommy and daddy!

6 months ago, I had a baby. And boy, has this baby grown and grown into something special!

This 6-month-old baby now army crawls VERY WELL! She is quite close to an actual, coordinated, real, baby crawl. And she's fast! Very fast! Gone are the days of leaving this squirmy worm on a blanket on the floor and walking away for "two seconds!" She'll be half-way across the room in a flash!

Hello, baby-proofing our home!

This 6-month-old likes to make growling and spitting sounds. She likes to grunt and hiss and make other crazy noises. They're quite bizarre and quite hilarious!

Her face turns purple when she pushes really hard and sometimes we think she's going to lose her voice or get a sore throat!

Those crazy noises make us giggle and cry with laughter!

This 6-month-old has had two rounds of shots and has taken them like a champ! She gets them again in two weeks, and I know she'll take them well again. You go, girl! Her mama was a good shot-taker, too!

When she plays, she gets a squinty-eyed, inquisitive look on her face, studying her toy or book. I can tell she'll be a fun little girl who loves to learn.

This 6-month-old baby giggled for me about 2 months ago for the first time, and those giggles are finally surfacing again! And her first giggle was the same week as her first fever. What a trooper!

She is a happy baby who smiles and laughs easily. Nothing can brighten your day quicker than a happy baby squeal.

Her toothless, gummy smile, with that tongue sticking out is one of my favorites!

This 6-month-old sleeps around eleven to twelve hours a night. Sometimes with one wake-up. Sometimes she goes all night.

Either way, she's getting lots of sleep, which makes this mama very happy in the mornings! Halleluyer!

But honestly, I know I'm going to miss those middle-of-the-night wake-ups. I'm not quite sure when her last wake-up will be, but I'll miss those special moments nursing and rocking my girl.

My 6-month-old baby loves to eat oatmeal and rice cereal--and ooo boy she sure is messy! She's gotten better at eating more than what gets thrown or all over her hands and feet. Yes feet. Somehow she gets her cereal on her feet. Crazy lady.

She has learned to open her mouth when I bring a spoon up to her face. It's amazing how much babies learn in those first few months! Even something as simple as using a spoon is celebratory!

We'll be trying out real food in a couple weeks after I talk to her doctor and I can't wait to see what she'll like to eat. Hopefully she'll enjoy fruits and veggies like her mama! Her daddy can't wait to give her fried rice and Greek food!

This 6-month-old baby loves to people watch and hang out in her jeep stroller. She crosses her ankles like a little lady and kicks her legs wildly when she gets excited! Sometimes her excitement causes hiccups :)

This sweet 6-month-old touches my lips, my eyes and my nose sweetly when I rock her to sleep. She makes "Ooo" sounds and looks at me lovingly. She then nuzzles her face in my chest and hums herself to sleep. I melt.

This 6-month-old is a wild woman! She is noisy and funny and throws fits from time to time. They're short-lived hissy-fits, but tend to be exhausting!

Judging from the picture below, she is a busy bee who loves to be entertained!

This 6-month-old has had gray eyes, blue eyes and now a mix of brown and green eyes. Mama has brown eyes. Daddy has green eyes. Family has a mix of brown, green and blue.

Her hair is brown and soft and lovely.

I love smelling her sweet head after bath time.

Speaking of bath time, this 6-month-old loves a good bath! She sits calmly and likes it when daddy pours water right in front of her face. She loves to catch the water stream in her hands and seems baffled when it runs out! Yet again, I can tell she is a very inquisitive baby as she studies the water.

This 6-month-old is joyful. She smiles from ear to ear when we greet her in the mornings. She smiles when we talk to her and is purely jovial.

Our sweet 6-month-old loves it when mommy goes "BOO!" and jumps in her face! She also finds it quite hilarious when I "sneeze" and fling my hair in her face. She blinks a mile and minute, acting as though sometime is blowing up in front of her! Then she giggles uproariously, leaning her head back with joy!

This 6-month-old weighed 14 pounds and was 24 inches long at her four month appointment--putting her in the 75th percentile in height and weight.

She has rolls for days and I'm not upset about it. She squishy and cozy and perfect.

I love my 6-month-old.

I celebrate her life. My sweet 6-month-old baby.

The reason I say I'm choosing to celebrate her is because I refuse to be sad at every passing milestone. Those first few weeks were really tough for me, seeing her grow so quickly and watching time pass before I could even catch up. I was sad in the evenings, because I knew she would wake up a day older. I was sad because she was born. And then she was a week old. And then she was a month old. And now she's 6 months old. I was a weepy mama those first few weeks.

But I refuse to be sad now. I've raised a healthy and perfect baby girl. She's growing beautifully and healthfully and that, my dears, is something to celebrate!

She is not only hitting her monthly milestones, but she is surpassing them! That is something to celebrate!

Yes, she's growing up quickly. Yes, time is rushing by. Yes, she'll be going to school before I know it. But for now, I celebrate today. I celebrate my 6-month-old baby. No time for sad tears. Only happy tears, knowing that God has given me and Jamie the greatest gift of all: being a mommy and daddy for six glorious months.

Being a mommy is something to celebrate.

Lucy is worth celebrating.

Thank you, Jesus, for our precious girl!

Happy 6 month birthday, sweet pea.

Mommy and daddy love you more than you can fathom.
