Prayers for our World

Last week, I was on a walk, listening to an old LifeChurch.tv sermon from pastor Craig and he said something that stuck out to me big time. He said something along the lines of,

"If God decided to grant every one of your prayers in your favor for one week, what lasting impact would it have on the world?"

So I started thinking about it. If God granted every one of my prayers in my favor for one whole week, who or what would benefit from it. Would people be healed? Would babies be adopted? Would souls be won to Christ? Would miracles be happening? Would cancer disappear?

Or would my prayers be selfish and me-driven?

So as I finished the sermon, I started thinking about how my prayer life can be more beneficial for the kingdom, and I came up with this:

I am going to pray for every single country around the world every single day until I have prayed for every single one.

And then I might start over! I told Jamie about my plan, and he was excited to join me on this.

Jamie sent me this website to help me get information on every country around the world, and for the past three days, we've been praying for a few countries starting with North America. So far, we've prayed for Bermuda, Canada and Clipperton Island. We have never even heard of Clipperton Island! The CIA website is really great because it gives information on religion, economics, geography, economy, and so on. It's super for my new prayer mission, because I know how to specifically pray for each country now.

What's really neat is that even in the past three days of our little prayer project, I can already see a change in mine and Jamie's spiritual relationship. Yesterday, I was venting about my frustration with the office ladies in our apartment, and he said very lovingly, "Maybe we should pray for them instead of getting upset with them so quickly about something that isn't a huge deal anyway." Yipes. That was a bit of a slap in the face of my bad attitude.

All this to say, Jamie and I are doing this together, and we'd love for you all to join us as well. Let's start praying with better intentions of expanding the Kingdom of God. Who's with me?

Also, help keep me accountable! Ask me about my prayer life. Ask me how it's going and what country I'm on. Keep me on my toes! I want to accomplish this to the full!

Thanks, guys! Love you all dearly!
