Last weekend, I spent a fabulous few days in good ol' Tulsa, Ok! Since I have four, count 'em four, baby showers being hosted for me next month, I needed to get on the baby registry band wagon. One problem. I don't have anyone here in Lafayette who would be willing to take me to do all of that business. Lord knows I don't know what I'm doing, so I definitely wanted a registering buddy! And the good Lord also knows my sweet beloved husband is THRILLED to be having a baby girl, but he would rather not be a part of all of the shopping mumbo jumbo. Do you blame him?
All this to say, I planned to head to T-Town to go registering with my mama! How fun is that! I left Lafayette early Friday morning and made my long 9 hour drive all the way home with Leia resting comfortably on my lap. Lucky dog.
Once I got home, my mom said hi to Leia and then almost instantly rubbed my belly. I think I'm going to feel like Buddha or a magic genie bottle for the next 4 ish months thanks to this growing belly. This will be the ONLY time I'm okay with it!
Friday evening, My dad, mom and I met my best friend, Megan at The Bistro for a lovely dinner. It's one of both of our families favorite restaurants, and I so enjoyed their company!
Me and my sweet best friend, Megan:
It was sooo great catching up with her. It's tough living in different states, but it makes it all the merrier when we get to hang out and be besties again :)
Our whole group:
The parental units--my parents and the Reese family:
Such a great evening with fabulous conversation and delicious food. What a fantastic combo! I love you Reese family more than you know!
After dinner, my parents and I stayed up a bit, chatting and playing with the cats and Leia. Surprisingly, Leia is absolutely oblivious to the three cats at my parents house, and Bubsy, the newest feline, is wildly infatuated with my sweet dachshund! I don't blame him.
Saturday morning, I met a couple other "Tulsa usuals" for some breakfast--my Big, Kendall and Karen:
I FINALLY got to meet Karen's precious baby boy, and I was thrilled to do so! He sang to us and cooed and giggled and was simply delightful! Thank you, Karen for bringing him! By the way, these two ladies, plus my wifey, Lindsay, are visiting me in good ol' Louisiana in December!! Ahhh I can hardly wait! Love you guys!
My mom and I then headed to Utica Square to eat lunch at The Wild Fork (a Tulsa favorite) and then begin our registering journey at Pottery Barn Kids.
Side note: It was FREEZING in Tulsa last weekend. And I LOVED it! I LOVE cold weather, and I don't get much of it here. I embraced every chill I got all weekend :)
PBK is a beautiful children's store and my mom and I were in heaven. I had already chosen bedding and a crib online, but my mom and I got a baby bag, blankets, books and some other sweet baby goodies while we were in the store. We were already having fun.
Next, we headed to Buy Buy Baby. I used that fabulous little gun to get a few swaddle blankets, toys and clothes. But then we got to the bottle section...and we got overwhelmed. And left. Thankfully, my precious and hilarious friend, Molly, had just gotten in town, so we met her at Mimi's Cafe for a drink and appetizers. It was definitely time for a pick-me-up because I was wildly overwhelmed with all things baby!
Love this woman so much:
Molly and I have done this "butt pose" since high school--at homecoming, prom, sleepovers, pom events, etc. Classy, no?:
Molly was given Baby Scho some lovin' on my tummy:
Saturday evening, my parents and I ate at The French Hen. Delicious.
Sunday, I went to Sunday School, and my dad spoke on "Worry". How appropriate for my current situation? It was incredibly applicable to my life, and I was thankful to get to hear God's word on the topic of worry and anxiety. I left feeling encouraged and confident that I served a God who is bigger than worry and fear.
For lunch, my aunt Lesli, cousin Emma, cousin Jay, his wife Andrea, their two little girls, and my Grandma Betty came over to our house to eat. SO great seeing all of them. I'm so thankful I have such a big and tight family. Very fortunate to have that. I love my family so much :)
Sunday afternoon, my mom and I conquered the rest of Buy Buy Baby. Lord have mercy...so much baby stuff. Plus, Camie, my sister-in-law, came by to say hi! So glad to see you, Cam!!
Let me just share with you a few new baby words I've learned recently:
- Boppy
- Winkel
- Petunia Pickle Bottom
- Bumbo
- Pack-n-Play
- Baby Bjorn
- Snotsucker (It is exactly what it sounds like!)
- Muslin
- Snugabunny
Well. We came. We saw. We conquered!
Thank you, Mama, for walking around the stores, helping me get Baby Girl Schoenthaler all set :) I love you and am so thankful for you!
See you soon, T-Town!
