Leia and the Dog Bed

Most people treat their dogs like...well...dogs.

Not our dog. I mean, Princess. Princess Leia to be exact.

Leia has been the only [fur]  child for three years now, and she has become quite the princess. We feed her human food from time to time. She sits on the couch with us. She drinks water out of an Eskimo Joe's cup. She sleeps in our bed and uses our pillows. Heaven forbid we're taking up too much pillow?...well, she'll just nudge us over using her long snout. And we allow it.

We've turned her into a diva.

For Leia's first birthday, my mama bought her this really nice dog bed. Nice and fluffy. Big and spacious. Comfy. Fit for a queen. She'll sleep in it whenever we're not home, but yesterday, she was being such a dork.  I think she knows that she's about to be a big sister, so she's trying to soak up as much cuteness as possible before little sweet pea shows up.

I came home from a walk yesterday morning, and this is how the princess was sitting:

Not on her blanket, in her bed. But she pulled her blanket out of her bed, onto the floor, and was snoozing on that, plus a couch pillow. Divalicious.

Before I headed to work, this was how she was sleeping:

"Oh whoa is me. My life is soooo ruff!"

And this was how I caught her after work yesterday:

This pup is milking her patheticness for all it's worth! I think she has always secretly wanted us to install a puppy ramp up to her bed. Our bed is her favorite place in the world, and she prefers to snuggle there every second she gets.

All this to say, she would trade in her sad little dog bed for a queen sized human bed any day. Maybe Nana Lana can make that happen for her 4th birthday :)

I love my puppy. So so much.  Even her weird sleeping habits.

  1. I can totally relate.. Our dogs think they're humans too, and it's our fault! :)
